Before morning had dawned, it was still storming heavily.
Kara had been awoken by the sounds of what she believed to be hail hitting the windows. Damn… What time is it?, she pondered to herself as she rubbed her orange eyes.
It was still completely dark in the room.
Greyson fidgeted in his sleep, shivering.
Kara looked over to her young son after sitting up, her expression falling a little. Kara sighed before taking her jacket off and wrapping it around Greyson. “Shh…” She whispered to the little sleeping boy who was whimpering in his slumber. “You're okay. You'll be okay.”
Kara continued to cradle Greyson close to her, protectively until he began to stir.
Greyson's little yellow eyes opened. “Ai…” he whispered, in a frightened tone.
Shadows continued to cast themselves through the room and over Kara's face, making it hard for Greyson to properly see her.
“Hey, hey… You're okay…” Kara whispered to the little boy. “Äiti's got you.”
Hail hit the window once again, making Greyson start to cry.
“No, no… You're alright,” Kara replied to Greyson, trying to calm him down, but to no avail. “Grey… Please.”
Greyson cried harder, making Kara panic.
Shit. What the hell do I do?, Kara pondered to herself, her heart racing quickly.
Leslie slowly began to stir in her bed when she heard Greyson's sobs. She groaned softly, sitting up in her bed and opening her eyes. She fixed her hair before looking over in Kara and Greyson's direction.
“Shh…” Kara responded, still not gaining any progress.
Leslie's heart sank when she heard Kara's son cry. She slowly got out of her bed and made her way over to the window where Greyson and Kara currently resided. “Hey,” Leslie whispered, quietly. “Is he okay?”
Kara replied back in a worried tone while shaking her head. “No… I think the storm spooked him… The hail specifically.” She paused for a second before continuing. “...he just started crying and I can't get him to stop.” Panic edged in Kara's voice.
Leslie felt bad for Kara—-she pitied her a little. She sighed. “Here… Give him to me.”
Kara hesitated for a moment as Greyson continued to cry. Am I seriously contemplating giving my own son to a witch? She sighed. Dammit… Okay, okay… What's the worst that could happen? “Here,” Kara said softly, holding a crying Greyson out to Leslie.
Leslie took the little boy gently in her arms, holding him close to her chest. “Shhh…” She whispered to him before gently rocking him back and forth.
Kara nervously watched Leslie take care of her son.
Leslie then started to softly sing a lullaby to Greyson as she continued to rock him.
Slowly, Greyson began to calm down—-his crying ceased and his tiny eyelids began to flutter.
“That's it…” Leslie stroked the little boy's hair. “That's it… You're okay… Everything's all okay.”
Kara watched Leslie handle Greyson in awe.
“Let's get you somewhere comfortable, hm?” Leslie continued to rock Greyson back and forth before she headed over to the closet and opened the door. “Care to give me a hand?” The witch called out to Kara.
