Kara slowly began to awake after being suddenly forced into unconscious out of the blue just a few mere moments earlier.
Kara had an intense migraine—-she felt as though her skill was being crushed right at that very moment. She groaned.
Kara's amber gaze casted over to the side, trying to take in her surroundings—-while this place she currently resided in was mysterious to her, she knew one thing for sure: she didn't recognize this place at all.
The bed the demon laid in was positioned right against the wall.
Kara looked over to the other side of her, reaching her hand out to the wall, dancing her finger tips along the cracks in the weathered stone—-it was cold to the touch.
Kara slowly moved her hand away from the wall. “What is this place?” She gently whispered to herself. Suddenly, another thought slide into Kara's mind and make her temporarily forget about her previous question. Where's Greyson?, she thought to herself, starting to panic once she realized the young boy was no longer in her arms.
Kara's heart rate started increase rapidly. Calm down, her mind begged her. “Grey?” She began in a hoarse whisper. “Grey?”
Kara's gaze danced in a frenzy across the room before coming to rest on Greyson, who was sitting on the ground with the blanket wrapped around him while he was playing with the stuffed tiger Kara had gifted him. Kara breathed a sigh of relief. “There you are.” Thank goodness.
Kara slowly pushed the covers off of her and groaned as she swung her legs off the uncomfortable, hard-as-a-rock bed. “Don't scare me like that, bud.” Kara stood, slowly heading over to Greyson and kneeling down in front of him. Her expression softened as she watched the little boy who was humming to himself, gently. “Are you playing a game?”
Greyson continued to make the tiger dance in the air, making small, soft sound effects, with the biggest grin mantled upon his face. “Mhm,” he answered Kara with a tiny nod of his head.
“What are you playing?” Kara asked her son, steadying herself in her kneeling position by reaching her hand outward and pressing her fingers against the cold, cracked, stone floor. She continued to watch the tiger's movements that Greyson orchestrated. “...Is the tiger a hero? …A superhero?”
Greyson nodded once again as he moved the plush tiger through the air more and made a ‘whoosh’ noise.
Kara smiled gently at her young son's actions. “So, what's the hero doing? Saving someone? Helping those in need?”
Greyson nodded for a third time at Kara's question, rocking his legs that were pressed against the floor back and forth.
He's adorable, Kara thought to herself as she brushed her bangs away from her line of sight. “Who's she fighting then? Surely a hero's got some villain to stand up to.”
Greyson didn't respond to this question—-he just kept on playing and humming ever so softly as the sound of light rain dancing against the roof echoed overhead.
Rain? Again?, she began to think to herself. Honestly… When isn't it raining? That's all it ever seems to do anymore… Just rain, every single day.
“I'll tell you who's the villain,” Dylan's voice echoed from behind Kara as if he intended to answer Kara's question for Greyson.
Kara looked behind her, over to Dylan—-her migraine was still raging on. Her gaze met his. She remained silent, curious of what her friend might say. Finally, she decided to say something. “Who's the villain then, Dylan?” She forced herself to stand up, brushing the dirt from the stone floor off her hands.
