~2018~

“Come on!” Leslie's voice echoed, trying to reassure Kara. “You'll be able to do it. I know you will.”

“It's not so easy,” Kara began as she finished up her dinner. “It's really all a game of chance, Leslie. What if I mess up? Miss a jump? Fall? Over rotate? Spend too much time on the ice?”

“Listen to me,” Leslie began, placing her hands on Kara's shoulders. “You've already been doing great so far. Your short program got you to second place. Don't stress so much.”

Kara sighed. “Yeah… Stressing will probably only fuck me over more in the long run.”

“Exactly,” Leslie said. “Now I'm gonna get the kids ready and we'll head over to the arena, okay?”

     Kara nodded. “Okay.”

“Let's just hope my beginner's Korean is enough,” Leslie joked before she left the room.

Kara laughed a little at that and then tried to calm herself down. You're gonna do okay. You're fine! There's nothing to stress over. It's just a competition in PyeongChang… The winter Olympics at that… but, relax! You're fine!, she tried to mentally reassure herself.

“It's just the Free Skate,” Kara whispered to herself—-she kept repeating that same set of words, in her mind, the whole way to the arena.

They arrived at the arena early enough so Kara could get some stretches and warm ups in.

Leslie had found a seat, close to the edge of the rink—-she had said she wanted to have the ‘best seat in the house'.

Tomi sat nearby his mother, fidgeting in his chair—-this was the first time he had ever been to an arena to witness some sport. “Äiti?” Tomi then asked Kara.

“Yeah?” The demon responded back to the little boy.

“Have you ever been to a place like this before?” He asked, innocently.

“The arena or the country?” Kara then asked Tomi.

      Tomi explained, “The country.”

“Well… I've been to Luxembourg… That's where I'm from, remember? And I've been to Italy… That's where the Academy is… I've been to Switzerland and France too,” Kara said in response. “But, to answer your question… No, I've never been to South Korea before… Hell, I've never been outside of Europe.”

Tomi's eyes grew wider. “So, this is all new for you too?”

Kara nodded. “Of course it is… Just like you.” She paused for a moment before asking the boy, “How are you liking it here so far?”

Tomi bounced a little in excitement. “I love it! It's awesome! I wanna visit other countries in Asia too!”

Kara chuckled a little at that. “Okay...  We'll have to see about that.”

Greyson was sitting next to Tomi, eagerly waiting for the routines to start; just like Kara, Greyson adored figure skating.

On Leslie's lap, were the twins—-Miroslav and Katia Lieux-Kovachev.

Tomi and Greyson had wanted another brother, while Leslie and Kara wanted a daughter. They had lucked out and gotten both.

The twins were still nowhere near a year old and Kara was a bit nervous about an event like this being too loud and bright for them, but Leslie reassured her that it would be perfectly fine.

Tomi and Greyson adored the twins—-they’d nonstop talk about how they'd play with them after the competition; and of course, Leslie would have to tell them they'd all go to bed after the competition.

She had said that they needed to get a good night of sleep if they wanted to make the flight back to Clervaux.

      Next to Leslie was Nicolas.

He had said he wanted to go to support his sister.

“You're gonna do great,” Nicolas told his older half-sister. “I bet you'll even win gold!”

“I don't know about that, Nico,” Kara replied. “There's plenty of other amazing skaters here tonight too.”

“Okay, yeah… But, you're like the best figure skater I know!” Nicolas said, smiling.

Kara felt a bit of a smile creep onto her face as well. She reached forward and gave her little brother a quick, gentle hug.

Anais and Pierre had both gone as well to show their support for Kara.

Despite the fact they had broken up in the past, Pierre and Anais had gotten back together.

Anais had said that Pierre was a ‘far better option than Lucifer'.

Dylan and Mycah sat nearby, waiting for the routines to begin—-they had gotten married not too long ago.

Surprisingly, Vihaan and Igor had shown up as well.

Nashoba, Sage, and Tiyuk had their own seats. Matter of fact, Sage and Nashoba had started dating not too long ago.

Leslie's family had also shown up—-her father, Nikola and her half-brother, Ivaylo.

Mrs. Thao and Delta were even there.

Bethany was there with Gaël. “Kara?” She called out. “There's someone I want you to meet.”

Kara then looked over in Bethany's direction to see a boy younger than her with black hair and red eyes. “Who's this?” She asked her twin sister.

“This is Ochard,” Bethany explained. “He's our half-brother, courtesy of dad…” She paused for a moment before saying, “It'll take a while, but I'm trying to find all of our siblings.”

Kara looked over to Ochard and smiled softly at him. “It's nice to meet you, Ochard.”

Kara was actually very surprised to see Aubrie show up at the arena as well. “Aubrie…” She breathed quietly. “What are you doing here?” The question wasn't hostile at all.

Aubrie shrugged. “I wanted to see you perform.”

Kara looked down at the ground before looking up once more and smiling softly at her. “Well, thanks for being here.”

“Thought it was only right for me to go cheer on my childhood friend…” Aubrie replied, quietly. “I mean it's not everyday someone you know goes to compete in the Olympics. The plane tickets were expensive, but it was all worth it.”

Kara gave Aubrie another smile before coming back over to Leslie and taking off her jacket and her guards.

“Representing the small nation of Luxembourg… Skating to Debussy's ‘Clair de Lune',” the commentator began to say, earning shouts from the crowd. “...Kara Lieux!”

Leslie leaned forward, kissing Kara on the lips. She gently smiled at her, whispering, “That was for good luck.” Then Leslie raised her voice once more, “Now get out there and show them how it's done!”

Kara grinned at Leslie's comment before turning around and skating off onto the ice, knowing the whole world was watching.
