Sage reclined back in their chair, dancing their dark fingertips along the arms of the cushioned chair. Their gaze drifted over to Tiyuk who was sitting in a corner, her head pressed again her knees.

Sage couldn't help but feel bad for the little girl—-they so desperately wanted to go over and comfort her, but they weren't sure how. She hates me, they began to think to themselves. No matter what I do, I'll never make her feel better. They pushed their head backwards, making it press against the back of the chair. Great, they thought. This kid will hate me for all eternity. They exhaled slowly, letting their eyes wander upward towards the ceiling.

Sage slid their hands behind their head, their fingers reaching through their black curls. “Poor kid,” they mumbled to themselves, feeling nothing but pity for Tiyuk.

Dylan and Mycah were sitting close to the farthest wall from Sage. Mycah was on the bed, laying across it while Dylan sat on the ground, leaning against the bed frame.

Mycah scrolled on his phone and every now and then showed Dylan what he had found, causing them both to snicker amongst themselves.

Mycah and Dylan seem to be getting along, Sage noted to themselves. But yet, Tiyuk hates me… and Leslie's having a hard time getting along with Kara. They sighed.

There was a swift knock on the door, making Sage, Mycah, Dylan, and Tiyuk all freeze.

“I'll get it,” Sage told the others who currently resided within the room after they finally broke out of their statue-like state. Sage got up out of the chair, slowly making their way toward the door. They inhaled deeply before opening the door to reveal a stunning young man with long black hair and tattoos along his tanned neck.

     “Sage Bishop?” The man began.

Tiyuk perked up when she heard the voice at the door.

Sage felt a lump form in their throat. “Uh… Yeah. That's me.” Their fingers danced along the edges of the door as they gripped it. “C-Can I help you?”

The young man sighed. “I'm… Nashoba Habik.”

Sage stiffened a little bit more.

“I'm Tiyuk's father,” Nashoba said. “I've been informed my daughter was bound to you.”

Shit, shit, shit!, Sage's mind panicked. He's going to kill me, huh? He'll slaughter me where I stand. This is it. I've had a mediocre life. They swallowed the lump that had formed in their throat. “S-She was.”

Nashoba sighed again. “You don't need to get so tense.” He exhaled. “I know you didn't choose to. I'm aware how these binding rituals work in this ‘academy’.” He fell silent for a moment before speaking once more. “I know that Iris Haynes woman chooses a demon at random and forces you to bind yourself to them.” He sensed Sage's unease. “Don't worry. I mean you no harm. I just want to see my daughter.”

Sage remained silent for a little bit before opening the door more. “Come in… She's in here.”

Nashoba nodded to Sage, gratefully before entering the dorm room.

Sage closed the door once Nashoba entered.

Nashoba's eyes lit up when he saw Tiyuk.

Tiyuk got up quickly from her sitting position near the wall of stone and ran up to Nashoba quickly. “Papa!” The little girl shouted, excitedly.

Nashoba picked the girl up quickly, holding her close. “Oh, my little flower… I missed you.” He brushed the hair out of his daughter's face, gently.
