Dylan and Leslie continued on through the corridors to the room that Kara was supposedly residing in while holding Greyson and Tomi in their arms.

     Finally, they reached the room.

Dylan knocked on the doorway. “Knock, knock…” He entered the room. “Kara… You okay?”

Kara groaned from her place in the hospital bed. Her head was bandaged up. She blinked her eyes open. “Dylan?”

“Yep… It's me,” Dylan said, taking a seat near the bed and putting the duffle bag on the ground. “And your little baby Grey.” He exhaled. “How do you feel?”

“Terrible,” Kara groaned, her head still resting upon the pillow.

“What did the doctor say?” Dylan asked Kara as he continued to hold Greyson close to him.

“Fractured part of my skull,” Kara said as she continued to look up at the ceiling. “God, I feel like I'm gonna throw up.”

“Yeah… That would make sense,” Dylan began to say. “...Pretty sure nausea is a symptom of a brain injury.”

Kara groaned once more. “Yay me,” she said unenthusiastically. She huffed, blowing strands of pink hair out of her face.

Greyson fidgeted in Dylan's lap. He whined as he reached his tiny hands out toward Kara.

“Oh… You want your mama, don't you?” Dylan began to ask the little boy.

Greyson continued to whine as his response to Dylan's question.

“Alright, alright,” Dylan responded. “Don't fuss, bud. There, there.” He reached out and put Greyson in Kara's arms.

Greyson seemed to calm down once Kara sat up a little and stroked Greyson's hair.

“Äiti's little boy,” Kara whispered to the little boy.

“You know,” Dylan started to say to Kara. “...Greyson grew attached to you really fast.”

Kara held Greyson close to her despite having a raging migraine. She hummed softly to the little boy. Fuck. I feel like I'm about to pass out again, she thought to herself—-she tried to ignore that thought.

“Um,” Dylan began to say as he saw Leslie and Tomi in the doorway. “Kara…” He tilted his head toward Leslie. “This pretty, nice goth lady over here called the ambulance for you.”

Kara looked over to Leslie and Tomi—-the bright lights of the hospital room seemed to hurt her eyes. Kara was clearly still not fully with it. She faintly smiled at Leslie. “Thanks.”

Leslie briefly smiled back. “You're welcome.” Then she added, “Try to get better.” With that, Leslie and Tomi left the room and headed back out to Sage and Mycah.

When Sage, Mycah, Leslie and Tomi arrived back at Leslie's room at the academy, Nicolas was the first to greet them.

    “You're back!” Nicolas began.

“You were waiting for us in Leslie's room?” Mycah asked Nicolas with a raise eyebrow.

Nico nodded. “Yeah… I mean. I had nowhere else to go.” He sucked in a breath. “Iris hasn't even assigned me a dorm room yet.”

“And how'd you get in here?” Mycah then asked Nico.

Nicolas answered with, “She left the door unlocked.”

I did what? Leslie felt her breath catch in her throat as she stiffened. Did I seriously do something as reckless as keeping my door unlocked? What if someone walked in and saw Tomi's bed? Or his toys? Crayons? What if Iris walked in?

Nicolas seemed to sense Leslie's unease despite not knowing how to read her thoughts yet. “Don't worry. No one came in the whole time you guys were gone.”

Leslie exhaled, breathing a sigh of relief. “Okay. Good.”

“So… Did you see her?” Nicolas began to ask Leslie, Sage, and Mycah. “Did you see my sister?”

    Leslie nodded. “We did.”

Mycah then added on, “Yep… Your sister was skating when we saw her.”

     Nico asked, “Royaume de Glace?”

Mycah nodded. “Mhm. There. And… She missed a jump and wiped out. …Bashed her head right open.”

Nicolas's eyes grew wide with terror. He tensed up. “W-What?” He stammered.

“According to Leslie,” Mycah began to say to the young boy. “Your sister broke part of her skull.”

“Is she okay?” Nicolas asked, worriedly.

Sage answered, “Well, when we left Luxembourg, she was still in the hospital… She might very well still be in there.” They inhaled. “But I'm sure she's okay… The doctors and nurses are taking good care of your sister, Nico.”

Nicolas exhaled. “Okay. Good.” He looked over to Mycah again. “Did you get to meet Dylan?”

Mycah nodded. “Yeah. I did. Matter of fact, Dylan knows my name already… and he knows I'm a witch.” He laughed a little. “But um… That's a lot more than Leslie's got. I mean… All Kara knows about Leslie is that she's the one who called the ambulance for her.”

Nicolas's gaze drifted back to Leslie once more. “You didn't tell her anything about you.”

Leslie put Tomi on the ground again, letting him go run off and play. Then she answered, “I didn't see any need to.”

“You didn't see any need to?” Nicolas repeated again.

Leslie exhaled. “I mean… I'm going to be seeing her again soon when I'm binded to her. I'll just tell her what she wants to know then.”

Mycah laughed. “And that's only a possibly. Since you've got that vendetta against demons or whatever.”

Leslie rooked her red eyes and looked away from everyone else in the group. Kara's probably just as bad as all of the other demons you met. She's probably just playing the ‘innocent’ card. She probably wants to trick you. That's just what demons do.

“Actually,” Sage responded as they peaked out the cracked doorway, watching young witches pass by in the hall. “Speaking of the binding…” They trailed off.

Mycah and Leslie both looked over to Sage, curious to see what they'd say next.

    “What?” Mycah replied.

Sage sighed as they closed the door once more. They looked over at Mycah and Leslie before making their way over to them.

“What's with that look on your face, Sagey?” Mycah asked. “You look like you're just about to tell us some dog died.” Then, he asked, “No dog did die, right?”

Sage exhaled. “I think it's time for the binding.”
