11. The cry baby

"I would like to apologize for the argument that day."

To say how Avneet was shook to the core by the apology would be an impossible task. She fiddled with her fingers and shifted on her toes. She wanted to sob in embarrassment and shame.

She was the one who lied. She was to one who hurt
Siddharth. And here is Siddharth, almost a week and a half later, apologizing to her?!

Well, to fill you up in, the next few days, after the argument with Siddharth, for Avneet,
went by in a blur. She was really busy all these days. It's been two to three weeks since she started working here and she's been working her ass off.

She has had two photoshoots till now and she has got a positive response from the staff and producers.

They will be announcing her debut for the first time after two weeks or so. Avneet is literally so scared.

But that's another topic.

Avneet gulped and shook her head. "No, I'm the one that
should be sorry. I hurt yo-"

Siddharth raised an eyebrow and then shook his head. He stopped her mid-sentence while raising his palm. Avneet clamped her lips shut.

"Well, you should be, Avneet. Absolutely, but you don't need to apologize just because I'm saying sorry to you.", he said sternly, his face blank.

Avneet flushed. Yes, she was a coward. She wanted to apologize to Siddharth but she did not have enough courage to face him.

And of course, apologizing back to someone when they are apologizing to you sounds insincere.

"Also, I wasn't apologizing about whatever I said to you. I meant all the things I told you that day and wouldn't change my words for hell.", Siddharth then continued making Avneet confused.

What are you sorry about then? She thought but did not dare ask.

Siddharth exhaled noticing Avneet's expression painted with confusion. As clueless as ever. Siddharth mentally scoffed at his own thoughts.

"I'm talking about Ishaan."

Avneet gulped and nodded. Her son's name sounded so good from Siddharth's mouth.

"I had no right to judge you for having a child.", Siddharth said, "I am pretty upset about the fact that you just threw away all we had, I don't blame you but desperation doesn't suit you, Avneet."

Avneet bit her tongue. Desperate. Yes, that's how she had sounded while saying- lying about, all these things to Siddharth.

"I should've been a little more mature. But as always, being the emotional fool I am. I took it to heart so... Yeah, I got carried away."

Avneet shook her head. "No, it's fine.", she said. The older of the two nodded.

"I know and you know whatever went down between us. It wasn't pretty-", Siddharth paused, a mocking smile creeping on his face, "Well, at least the end of it wasn't.", he completed and Avneet couldn't agree more.

Yeah... It was all pretty ugly. Well, the end of it was. She thought to herself with a bitter smile of her own.

She nodded showing she agreed with Siddharth.

"We can't be friends. Ever again." Siddharth stated, he wasn't asking. "I'm not that good of a human to make you my friend after everything that went down."

And this time Avneet meekly said, "I don't blame you."

Siddharth stared as Avneet passed a small smile but averted her eyes away from his as soon as possible.
