25. My Son
"Mumma ish sad?"
Avneet immediately shook her head and glanced down at her son who was sitting on her lap while munching on apples Avneet cut for him.
Her son.
Her and Siddharth's son. Their son."No, baby." She lied and picked the boy up to make him sit on the couch, beside her.
"But why mumma not talk to Ishaan then?", he asked in an accusing tone, a pout on his lips and arms crossed through his chest.
Avneet smiled softly at him. "I'm sorry, baby. Mumma was just thinking..." About how to tell you about your father.
"Thimkimg what?", he frowned, curiously looking up at his mother who chuckled.
"Thinking." Avneet corrected making the boy whine.
Her eyes focused onto the boy's face who was grumbling cutely.
'You know, Avneet, I really want to just take Ishaan away with me and keep him but I won't do that. Because that won't be fair to him. My son doesn't even know I'm his
father so what would he think of me as? A stranger who's taking him away from his mother?"She remembers Siddharth's words from last night. The older was so angry at her, rightfully so.
"You just have one day- tomorrow, you do you otherwise I'm calling my lawyer and we're talking through law then. I am actually very tempted to call my lawyer and press some charges against you but it would be my anger talking. Ishaan will get scared moreover. Tomorrow- from tomorrow, I don't want to miss a single day in my son's life."
Well, everything was said and done but what will she do now? She doesn't know how and what to tell Ishaan?
She's always told Ishaan that, 'Your father's not here.' When asked why... 'He is busy'. And obviously a three year old could think so much, he would just say okay and pout and maybe sulk, but what could he even do?
"Baby?"
Ishaan looked up at his mumma at the call of his name. "mh?"
"Do you want to... "
Avneet glanced into the very familiar eyes as they glanced up at her, curious and confused. She sighed.
"Would you l-like to meet your f-father, baby?", she asked cautiously, gauging carefully how ishaan's expression went from confused to excited in a matter of few seconds.
"MY DADA?", hie exclaimed loudly in glee. Avneet felt a little more guilty, the heavy stone of guilt weight much more on her chest now.
She nodded, blinking her tears back.
"Yes.", she whispered, kissing his head, "Your dad.""YES! YESH! YESSS!" And within seconds he was jumping up and down on the couch with the widest smile Avneet has ever seen on his face.
"Where ish Dada?", he asked Avneet happily after he was done with his little celebratory dance.
Telling Ishaan Siddharth is his father would be very, very difficult to say because the boy has been seeing him daily for months. How is he so suddenly his father? That'd be really hard to explain to a toddler.
Maybe she should call Siddharth. It would be easier to explain Ishaan in his presence because Siddharth is way better with words than her.
Avneet gulped. "He- I'll call him. He'll be here soon.", she said muttering a small smile just for the sake of her son's excitement.
Ishaan beemed. "Dada not busy now?", he asked innocently, breaking Avneet's heart a little more.
Avneet closed her eyes and released a shaky breath. No, she can't cry right now. No.
