38. Cries ; Sorrows
When Avneet returned back to the table with jai after about twenty minutes, both of their eyes were red. There was no doubt about they had both been crying.
But no one tried to show it. They were all curious, of course but they obviously didn't want to force bad memories out of any of them because when they asked Jannat what was it about and Jannat replied saying it was a scary day, it was clear that they shouldn't try to pry.
But Siddharth was going crazy.
What could have happened on a baby's birthday that could be apparently so bad that Avneet couldn't even think of it without crying?
Jannat's hands had been shaking a little since the siblings had left and Siddharth very well noticed that.
Thankfully Ishaan was tired and not really paying attention to anything other than the ice-cream he was having, more like getting fed by Faisal with a gentle smile.
Jannat heaved a silent relaxed sigh when she saw none of them looked like they fought with each other.
Avneet was sniffling a little, her nose red.
Siddharth clenched his jaw. He wanted to talk with Avneet tonight but she already looked so devastated. Would that be a good idea? Of course not.
Avneet immediately pecked Ishaan's forehead for a long second, closing her eyes and releasing a sigh as if she was assuring herself 'I'm so sorry, my baby. I have always been such mother, maybe I'll be a good mother to you someday. I'll try harder as always, Ishaan. Mumma loves you.' She thought but worded none of it.
Ishaan smiled toothily at his mumma after receiving the sweet kiss. He wordlessly raised his arms up wanting to be in his mumma's arms.
Avneet smiled weakly, pulling him on her lap and holding her tightly. She needed that assurance - no one is going to take Ishaan away from her - so much, especially after remembering all those horrible moments.
"Avneet... Avni-"
"Huh?" Avneet was startled, getting out of her thoughts.
"What?", she questioned, clearing her throat, "Sorry, I was thinking of something."
"Ishaan was telling you something.", Anushka chirped.
"Yes, ishu?"
"Mumma, I love you.",he offered a large smile, landing a kiss on Avneet's cheek, "Thank yuu!"
He thanked her, just like Jannat had taught him to do when he asked in the afternoon.
He already told Siddharth that when Avneet was lost in her thoughts.
"No, ishu." Avneet's eyes swelled up. She pressed a kiss to the boy's head, hugging him close to her chest. "Thank you for coming into my life, my angel baby. Mumma loves you so much.", she whispered.
Ishaan giggles from in between Avneet's arms when he felt his mother squeeze him. Avneet giggled along, resonating the melody of her son's sweet sound.
"Shall we go now?", Abhishek asked, yawning. "This is all sweet and good and beautiful but I have an early shoot tomorrow."
"Don't lie. "Vaishnavi scoffed, slapping his arms. "You just want to sleep like a fucking dead man."
"Di!", siddharth warned, glaring at her to keep her tongue in check when his son's near.
"Oops, sorrryyy." Vaishnavi bit her tongue sheepishly.
"Let's go then, all are done with the dinner, right?", Avneet asked and everyone nodded except Jannat who was still having her dessert, for the fourth time that night.
