48. Because it's you.

"Hey... ", Siddharth murmured, walking towards Avneet and stopped when he was right behind Avneet. The younger threw him a small hum over her shoulder before she started stirring egg that she was making.

Meanwhile Siddharth was contemplating pros and cons of what would happen if he just lets his intrusive thoughts win and wraps himself around Avneet and props his chin on her shoulder.

His mind drifts back to the incident that happened last week when Ishaan had unknowingly said all that to Avneet who had then cried the whole night away in Siddharth's arms.

They woke up the next day tangled in each other's limbs but there was very less awkwardness than one would expect.

That is, if the thick layer of tension you choose ignore. Totally a choice, though.

"Avni?"

Avneet hummed in response.

"I miss us."

It was just a quiet whisper in silence that floated, the way which had Siddharth let out.

The younger froze when she felt Siddharth arms come loosely around her waist, as if giving time for Avneet to move away if she wants, which she doesn't. Rather, she takes a step back, falling against Siddharth's chest while the older break into a shaky sigh as he tightens his arms around her, painfully so. Like he needs to feel that Avneet is right there, in his arms.

"Do you, too, miss us?"

"I do." Avneet whimpers.

"I miss us everyday. Whenever I used to look back, whenever I look at our Baby, I always miss us."

Siddharth presses his forehead to the backside of her neck while Avneet switches off the stove. She breathes in for a moment, letting the feeling sink in, it was after so long, after all.

Siddharth was hugging her.

And there was something so - nostalgic, so heartwarming, breathtaking and - soft and cuddly and safe.

Homely.

It's difficult to describe because Siddharth's hugs feel like he's put his all in them. His feelings, emotions, care and love.

"Sid-"

"Shh, let's not ruin the moment." Siddharth pleads, burying his nose in the brunette's neck.

Avneet hums, smiling lightly. She struggles a little against Siddharth but manages to turn around ignoring Siddharth who looked so confused at the broken hug and almost scared as if Avneet will push him away any second.

This time Avneet wraps her arms around Siddharth's neck and let's out a sigh, right below Siddharth's neck who shivers ever so slightly.

"I wanted a hug too, you know?", Avneet murmured, a tone of complain to her voice making Siddharth groan. He taps her ass lightly before wrapping his arms around the younger's waist who giggled.

"You fucking scared me for a moment there.", Siddharth grumbled, swaying them a little, side to side.

Avneet  just lets out a quiet chuckle against him, her chest rumbling rhythmically against Siddharth.

It was a quiet minute or two when Avneet mumbled, "What exactly are we doing right now?"

Siddharth groans against her neck before pulling back. "I don't know. I was feeling a bit... "

"Sentimental?", Avneet offered, teasingly.

Siddharth scoffed. "No, emotional and maybe, umm, nostalgic?", he pondered before nodding.
