29. Angst pt.2

"So, you and Avneet were exes?"

Siddharth nodded at Anushka's question. Avneet frowned, along with Faisal and Abhishek. They weren't impressed how Siddharth didn't tell them that they were exes even when they all knew Avneet.

"That's an understatement.", Vaishnavi scoffed. "They were in love. Young and stupid in love.",she corrected her.

Siddharth rolled his eyes at Vaishnavi but did not deny her. How can he? It was the truth.

But that 'were' did sting a little. Ouch.

"Vaishnavi  you knew?", Abhishek asked, his tone surprised even though he really shouldn't be because Siddharth and Vaishnavi were undeniably close ever since Siddharth met them, a little more than them all.

"Some parts of it." Vaishnavi gave him a shrug before glaring at Siddharth and slapping the back of his head. "This bitch didn't tell me anything about how they broke up and all."

Siddharth whined before swatting her hand away. "Come on! I didn't want to be an attention seeker by crying all my life misery to you."

Vaishnavi rolled her eyes and didn't reply. It didn't exactly make sense that Siddharth  should've told her everything. to someone who he has known for a weeks only but he could've told Vaishnavi later on. At least when they had Avneet among themselves.

"If Siddharth had told me about that, I think I would have found about Ishaan a long time ago.", Vaishnavi suddenly said, looking in Abhishek's direction thoughtfully.

"What?", Abhishek asked, clearing his throat awkwardly when he saw Vaishnavi staring at him.

"To think you said that all so casually. I mean... About our ishu being Siddharth's son. If I knew how Sidneet had broken up, a part of my brain would've thought of it, like maybe he really could be Siddharth's son?"

Siddharth exhaled frustratedly and leaned his head back on the couch, ignoring Vaishnavi's rant.

"Your little brain wouldn't have thought so far.", Anushka pointed out before she along with Abhishek burst into laughter.

"Sidneet?", Faisal mumbled after a moment, looking lost.

"Siddharth plus Avneet, duh.", Anushka enlightened him.

"Oh?"

Vaishnavi pouts sadly. "Sid, don't feel so bad. Look at the brighter side! You're a dad now.", she exclaimed, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.

"Oh yeah! We have a nephew finally!", Anushka cheers.

Siddharth sighed again. "I've been for a while, I didn't even know though.", he let out a bitter chuckle. "I'm really pathetic."

"Okay! Stop right there!", Abhishek warned him.

"Yeah, don't you dare blame yourself and then loathe in self-pity.", Vaishnavi scolded before pulling him in a hug.

"Sid, you can't change the way it is. Just- just make sure you make up for all the lost time. Give Ishaan all the love he deserves and be there for him now.", faisal advised.

Siddharth nodded at them, still feeling a little lost.

"What's wrong,  sid?",  Anushka asked softly as she took a seat beside him.

Siddharth pulled away from vaishnavi's hug.

" I don't know what to do now.", he said quietly. They all stayed silent, trying to see what Siddharth wanted to say.
