Once the doctor told Lloyd I was able to travel back to Croatia he jumped at the chance. He got me on the private jet, and we headed home. Croatia was his home, and I knew every minute Lloyd was in the states he took a chance of being linked to something illegal he did...the murders he committed.

I kept asking what happened to Denny and Lloyd wouldn't tell me. He told me it was dealt with, and everything would be handled.

Lloyd and I had not seen much of each other since getting back to Croatia. He didn't want this baby and I knew that and there was never any hope of him coming around. I didn't do this on purpose, and I was annoyed with how he was acting, even after finding me. Telling me we were nothing but fun and never anything serious, he also lied to me. Men in my life constantly lying to me.

I was lying in bed in my old room, watching some tv and just relaxing. The doctor had left me on bedrest for a few days but when he saw no signs of distress on the baby, and everything seems to be fine I was able to get up and around.

As I was starting to doze off my cellphone rang, and I saw it was Suzanne. I groaned and answered the phone.

"Suzanne..." I answered.

"Mavis, hey...um...how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, what's going on?" I asked.

"There is a little bit of a problem. The police are trying to get in touch with you to inform you of Denny's death." Suzanne said and took a sharp breath. I should have known Denny was killed.

"Oh okay...um...I mean I guess I could call them..." I said.

"That would work, I can send you the number of the main cop who keeps calling. Also, the lawyer wants to know how to get a hold of you. He needs the estate settled." Suzanne said.

"Why are they calling you?" I asked.

"Because they don't have a current number for you. Lloyd got you the new phone remember." Suzanne said and I sighed.

"Oh right, okay well I will go ahead and pack and be on my way to D.C. as soon as I can." I said.

"Lloyd going to let you leave?" Suzanne asked.

"Lloyd doesn't have a say in my life anymore. Can you just send me the cop number and I will call them before I leave?" I asked.

"Of course." Suzanne said and hung up. I got the number instantly and I called it.

"Officer Wilkenson."

I sighed hearing him answer.

"This is Mavis, Denny Carmichael's wife. I heard from my associate Suzanne you were trying to get a hold of me." I said.

"Oh yes, Mrs. Carmichael, we have been trying to get a hold of you to inform you that your husband Mr. Carmichael was found dead in your house..." He said and I was highly confused.

"He was what?" I asked, time to play grieving widow.

"We are sorry to inform you of this over the phone but your associate told us you have been out of the country with work..." The officer said and I nodded to myself.

"Right...I have been but I'm on my way in as soon as I can. Should I come to you at the station?" I asked.

"Yes, we have some questions for you about your late husband."

"Okay I will be there as soon as I get in." I said and hung up. I got up packing a bag. I would call the lawyer once I was in town. I wasn't sure how long I would be gone so I just packed for a week. Once I was done I took my suitcase and my carry on I packed for the plane and headed out of the bedroom. The guards who were at my door followed me downstairs.
