Chapter 24: Nerves

Charlie's POV: I'm now eight months pregnant and i feel awful. my back and feet hurt all the time and i always have a headache. On top of all the pain this baby doesn't stop moving! mostly because i started having braxton hicks. GREAT! i think she's going to be a rugby player just like her dad. all i do is eat and nick is going crazy trying to keep me happy. i feel so bad for being so needy but i just can't do things by myself now from how much pain I'm in.

I can also say i feel so nervous to actually have this baby. I'm having a C-section and i'm terrified. Can't this baby just live in my uterus forever??? would i be in pain for the rest of my life? yes. but wouldn't that be easier than c|_|tting my body open??

I push all those thoughts out of my head as Nick comes into a doorway and leans on the doorframe, crossing his arms. I continue to rub my belly feeling our baby start to move.

Nick: "hey baby, how are you feeling?"

Charlie: "my head hurts a little and your kid doesn't stop moving. i know it's hicks but they need to stop!"

he gives me a sympathetic look and starts to walk over. i watch him as he walks towards me and he sits on the edge of the bed, beside me. He leans down and kisses my head, then my cheek, and then my lips. he places his hand on my belly and rubs gently.

Nick: "clover left to hang out with some friends so we have the house to ourselves. have anything in mind you wanna do?"

Charlie: "i can't think about that right now just keep rubbing. she's not kicking any more."

Nick smirks a little and a move over to make room for him. he moves further down to the middle of my stomach and starts to talk to our baby

Nick: "hey sweetheart, i love how healthy you are and we are so excited but your papa is in a lot of pain. let's keep the kicking to a minimum. and if you are going to be a rugby player please please please let me teach you!"

I giggle at how he talks to Colette. Oh yeah, WE PICKED A NAME!!! we were so excited when we came up with the name. it was actually with the help of clover. at dinner a few weeks again she was talking about one of her best students and we just fell in love with the name. We also decided her middle name will be Sarah after nicks mother, our biggest supporter since we were 15! We didn't tell her the middle name yet so it could be a surprise!

Charlie: "come cuddle with me, i need a pillow for my nap"

Nick gets off the bed and looks offended

Nick; "Is that all i am to you? a pillow? i thought-i thought you loved me!"

he pretends to cry until he breaks character and starts to laugh. i try to laugh harder but my head really hurts. he gets the message and comes back to lay next to me.

I put my head on his chest and pull his phone out of his pocket. i've been overthinking a little bit about him talking to other people even though we both know he isn't. it's really just my dumb brain manipulating me into thinking like that. Nick understands that though and he doesn't care. i pull up just messages do a quick glance and nothing, as expected. Next i pull up instagram DMs and omg there are 3 different girls trying to get with him. I pick my head up and show him the new messages.

Charlie: "who the hell are these girls?"

Nick: "baby i don't know. you know i get random dms from time to time, that's why i never check them. just block them i promise you, you are all i want."

i take a deep breath and block them.

Charlie: "im sorry im being so controlling. i just feel like you dont like me anymore especially with how fat i look"

Nick: "oh honey we've talked about this, i love you no matter what and i love you so much. you are so strong to carry our baby and go through all the pain to get the greatest gift we could ever ask for. you know i love you and only you."

charlie: "i know and i love you too"

He kisses my lips again this time with what feels like all the love in the world.

i wince feeling colette kick again. nick pulls me gently back down into his chest and i give him his phone. he puts it on the nightstand and grabs my laptop, opening it and putting in the password. he plays the rest of the movie we were watching last night and continues to rub my belly, each time a little harder as he can feel what colette is doing to me.
