'Take care, War. Don't forget that I love you.'

The seconds stretched into minutes and the minutes into a half hour. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen, desperately awaiting War's response. An entire hour slipped by, the message had been read but the silence on the other end intensified my growing unease.

Why War chose to spend the night at Earth's house? Was it a retreat from the unexpected kiss we shared? Did he felt regret and try to avoid me? His behavior only fueled my uncertainty.

Restless, I rose from my seat, pacing back and forth in the living room. I'm almost sure that War still has feelings for me because of the kiss but now...the uncertainty clouds my mind again...

Maybe I pushed him to accept my feelings to hard...

The night lingered on with hours slipping away. Restlessness gripped me, pushing me to take a sleeping pill to escape the clutches of insomnia.

As I neared the decision to eat my medication, the door creaked open. War entered the house. A surge of joy coursed through me, making me smile happily as I hurriedly walked toward him.

"War"

"Phi...P'Yin, haven't slept yet?" War inquired, his head bowing slightly.

"Yeah, I'm—" My words halted as my eyes fixated on a conspicuous red mark adorning his neck. My heart plummeting. Even the most stupid person could decipher the telltale sign of a love bite.

Silence.

I grappled with the implications of what lay in front of me. War's eyes met mine and as soon as he noticed what I was looking at, he instantly covered his neck with his palm.

"War...what happened?" I finally managed to utter. A whirlwind of emotions cascaded through me.

War hesitated, the silence stretching uncomfortably before he offered a guarded response, "It-it's nothing."

I took a step closer as I searched his eyes for a more elucidating answer.

"War...don't lie to me. Why...why do you have that?" I asked, my voice trembling.

Silence. He was standing there like a stoic statue, refrained from uttering a single word, averting his eyes.

"War...please," I whispered.

My footsteps approached cautiously, yet he mirrored my movements by taking a step back, maintaining a distance.

"Can-can you say something? Did Earth did this?"

Silence.

"It-it's none of P'Yin's business," he responded.

He then rushed to upstairs, his bag slung over one shoulder.

"War..." I called out, the word a fragile plea lingering in the air.

As he walked past me, a tear escaped, tracing a path down my cheek.  Confusion, hurt and sorrow. My heart yearned for reassurance that he loves me while my mind grappled with the harsh reality unfolding in front of me.

The hope that he still had feelings for me, now lay trampled by the harsh reality of his silence and retreat...

THE NEXT MORNING

I looked at my reflection in the mirror. The red mark on my skin told the story of P'Earth's unexpected actions. What was P'Earth thinking when he did this? Did he misinterpret my desire to spend the night at his place?
