When I returned home from work, War greeted me eagerly, instantly walking towards me with a broad smile and taking my bag from my hand. "Hey, I miss you," I greeted him, leaning in and giving him a quick peck on the lips.
He giggled and reciprocated with a deep kiss on my cheek, causing my face to flush. "I miss P'Yin too," he responded.
Placing my bag on the table, he wrapped his arm around mine, leading us towards the kitchen. I couldn't help but furrow when I saw an array of dishes covering the table. "You cooked all these?" I questioned, as I took in the sight of the delectable spread in front of me.
"Of course! I cook all these for P'Yin!" He replied proudly, pulling out a chair for me and encouraging me to sit. As I settled down, he took a seat beside me and began serving rice onto my plate.
"Is there a special occasion today? Why did you cook so much?" I inquired, genuinely curious about the unexpected feast.
He grinned, pinching my cheeks affectionately. "No special occasion, just wanted to surprise P'Yin," he said shyly.
"Awww, you are so sweet. Thank you so much, my baby," I said while ruffling his hair which made him smile from ear to ear.
As we started to eat our dinner, War intermittently cast glances in my direction, suggesting he had more on his mind. I smiled, intertwining my fingers with him. "War, my love, is this truly just a surprise or is there another reason, hm?" I inquired softly.
He nervously scratched his neck, adjusting his glasses. "Of course it's a surprise but...also hm actually...I went out today," he said, causing me to furrow since he typically informed me about his whereabouts.
I mean, I don't restrict his freedom but we have always kept each other in the loop about our whereabouts. Even when our relationship wasn't at its best, he still let me know about his movements.
"You went out?" I asked gently, running my fingers through his hair. "Where are you going? Why didn't you mention anything to me, hm baby?" I questioned, offering a slight smile as he lowered his gaze and played with my fingers.
"I...met P'Earth," he admitted, causing my heart to unexpectedly quicken. The mention of Earth's name triggered a response, particularly given his known feelings for War.
I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself. "Earth? Why are you meeting him without letting me know? Is everything okay...between you two?" I asked, trying to control my voice.
"Yeah," he replied. "It was just a casual meet-up. We talked about some stuff," he replied with his innocent smile.
My mind raced with thoughts and insecurities. Even though we had worked through our relationship issues, the mention of Earth still stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within me. I fell silent for a moment, contemplating the potential implications.
What if Earth said something to War that could sway him to choose Earth over me? I knew that compared to Earth, I might not always be as outwardly nice but my love for War ran deep and I was certain that nobody could love him the way I did. The past was a mistake but now all I had to offer was my unwavering devotion to War.
I took another deep breath, trying to shake off the rising anxiety. "War, I-"
"I told P'Earth about us. I...I said I love P"Yin," he said hesitantly and I became silent for a while before pulling him into a hug. My lips turned into a wide smile as I buried my face on his shoulder.
Relief washed over me as his words sank in. He told Earth that he loves me and that admission was enough to dispel the storm of insecurities that had been raging in my mind.
