SELENA MONTGOMERY

I race throughout the house, desperately trying to find Adam. So far I've checked his office and the entire first floor.

The next door I open is to his private study.

Darkness floods the entire room because the heavy curtains block out any light. The scent of his cologne faintly wafts through the air, indicating his presence in the room.

"Adam?" I squint my eyes trying to see where exactly he is.

A dim desk light turns on at the desk. Adam's face is partially illuminated by the warm light, but his entire expression is cold. His hair is a mess and a glass of gold liquor sits in right hand.

"What do you want, Selena?" His voice is even colder and filled with annoyance.

He's never taken this tone with me before.

"What's your problem?" I snap back at him and approaching his desk. Adam downs the rest of his drink and slams it down on the desk. The sound of the glass makes me flinch, but Adam doesn't notice and moves to stand in front of me.

"I don't like repeating myself. Why are you bothering me?" Each word sounds venomous as he spits it out at me. I look into Adam's eyes and its like I'm looking at a stranger.

I feel a soft pounding feeling in my chest that only becomes stronger when I look up into his eyes. They are pitch black and not the familiar warm brown I've come to know. His hair is hanging down to frame his face, eyebrows furrowed in anger, and jaw clenched.

"Why are you acting like this?" My voice quivers slightly as he takes a step closer to me. I am about to take a step back, but stop myself which leaves a little distance between us.

"Answer my question or get out of my office."

"No."

"Goodbye, Selena."

"No."

I respond immediately again, to which Adam lets out a frustrated groan. "Don't test my patience, Selena." The dangerous tone of his voice through clenched teeth is sending electricity throughout my entire body.

Adam is glaring down at me with his arms crossed. I take a quick glance down at the muscles and veins of the exposed skin on his tan forearms. I look up again almost immediately and notice a few more buttons than usual of his dress shirt are undone. The chain usually hidden underneath his shirt is visible.

His entire presence right now is sending a feeling, that I recognize from this morning, straight between legs.

All of these conflicting thoughts are starting to make my head pound as well.

If he thought that he was going to switch it up on me out of nowhere, he's got another thing coming.

"Don't test my patience, Adam." I cross my arms and step up to him closing the little distance between us. Holding my head up high at him, I see his resolve waver for a split second before his anger returns.

Smirking, I grab the collar of his shirt and pull his stunned face closer to mine. His hands fly to my hips as if to keep me at a distance. My other hand finds it way onto his chest and I feel his muscles tighten underneath his black shirt. "If you're done being a little bitch, I'll tell you what I wanted to say."

Adam doesn't say a single word but I can see that he is seething. Ha. I got him.

"Good boy," I say turning my smirk into a grin. His eyes flit down to my lips, still glaring at me. I let my finger play with his collar and pull him closer as I begin talking.
