SELENA MONTGOMERY
After the kiss, Adam kept shooting me small smiles as we sat on the couch in a comfortable silence. He had the television brought back into his room, some food sent up, and was now looking through some papers with his glasses on.
Every few minutes our eyes would connect when I would catch him looking over at me or vice versa. Every single time, the corner of his lips would raise into a killer smile. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Of course, I tried to ignore Adam's presence and watch the random movie but all I wanted was to feel his lips on my mine again.
I couldn't help it.
My little inner voice was missing too which didn't make things better. That voice usually knocked some sense into me. It started appearing around the time I started up in New York, after Clay. It was like a weird kind of conscience that kept me alive...because let's be honest, I am really fucking naive. Now it just vanished faster than it came.
What do I do? Kiss him again? No, that would make me seem desperate.
Help inner voice! HELP!!!
I felt my heart beating so fast. I swear if there wasn't anything playing, you would just hear my heartbeat.
We watched movie after movie was the day went by and Adam worked beside me. I tried to ask if I could play on a computer or something and he quickly denied the requests which was probably was good choice. I used to love to read in school, but not so much anymore.
As the credits came on for the movie we were watching currently and it starts getting darker outside, I smile grimly to myself and Adam decided it was time to speak up.
"Why did you throw up?" I glanced over at him, a little caught off guard. He was still reading through the papers and skimming his fingers over the words.
Before I could begin to think of an answer he added, "The real reason."
I sighed running my hands through my hair. "Just promise you won't tell the good doctor," I say in all seriousness to Adam. I was exhausted from Enzo's whole doctor act...even though he was technically a doctor.
Adam put down the papers and turned his full attention towards me. "Enzo? He might be my uncle, but he still works for me. I don't need to tell him anything."
I nod my head slowly, take a deep breathe in and out before saying those four words. "I had a nightmare."
Adam's entire body tensed for a millisecond but I noticed.
"Why didn't you just tell me this before?" He paused and was about to continue speaking, but I quickly interrupted him. "You won't tell him, right?"
Adam just sighed and removed his glasses. I watched him place them on the coffee table in from of the couch. He took a moment to think, furrowing his eyebrows and pinch the bridge of his nose.
"Of course, I promised you Selena. I don't break my promises." He finally stated and pulled me towards him, wrapping his arms around me protectively. This was the first time a hug had felt oddly comforting and not .
"You will be sleeping in my room from now on. Permanently." he stated. I pushed him slightly away from me to look up at him with shock. What the fuck is the reasoning behind this.
Since coming here, I had been in Adam's room or the infirmary. Not once had I spent the night in my own room. I didn't mind sleeping in his room because it was actually kind of nice, but the idea of it being permanent scared me.
"What? Are you crazy?!" I ask, not willing to agree to this situation that easily. "No. You have two options. Sleep in my room with me or Rossi watches you sleep in your room. Choose."
