I looked up to you
as the person who loved
and
understood me the most.
I looked up to you
as the model for family.
No matter what was said,
you were still my dad.You weren't perfect;
you had your past,
and we had lost time,
but you loved me presently
and that's all that
mattered to me.But...
My mother used to demand
total obedience,
silence in the face of authority.
I was to do as I was told,
right or wrong,
no words spoken,
because she was the leader
and
I her demanded follower.Maybe I had this
whole thing wrong,
to dare speak my frazzled mind.
Maybe I had it wrong,
to think I could stand up and be heard. From now on
I will serve you with no question
as your will designs.
I'm just a child, after all -
and you know better always.I'm tired, so damn tired,
too old for my age.
I feel as though my soul
creaks and cracks and breaks,
when it should be lively.Trust is a fool's errand
and
I sincerely surrender.
You win the game
that
I never knew was being played.
I was being stupid
to think I had my own place.Henceforth, there will be no problems,
no questions from me.
"No sir" or "Yes sir"
will be all that will be.I'm sorry for the burden I've caused
and
the stress of all I've done.
My existence is tiresome, true,
but just hang on
until my education's through.
You'll be rid of me for good.
