We Say Nothing

The room is dark,
and the air is cold,
chilling me to the bone.
We both lay in bed
where silence reigns -
but my mind is all but empty.

I wait for you say something.
I'd take anything.
Instead, you busy yourself
in other ways.
I'm quite sure this drought
between us
will never go away.

I look over occasionally,
but you pay me no mind.
Is this how it's going to be for
the rest of my life?

Will you come home
when we're old and gray,
and, instead of a kiss,
greet me with nothing?
Will I even get to see
that time with you -
or will you leave me soon?

The room is dark,
and the air is cold,
chilling me to the bone.
We both lay in bed
where silence reigns -
but my mind is all but empty.
