I sighed and jumped onto my bed. I looked at my phone, AGAIN, to find no new texts from Logan. Taylor had been texting me lots and I was thankful to have someone to spill to.
I grabbed my journal, I hadn't written in it since Colorado. I apparently only wrote in it when I had a problem.
Dear Book,
This is ridiculous. I kissed Logan a few times two days ago and he hasn't texted me once. I have sent him like 39 texts and I have gotten nothing. I'm almost positive he still likes me so that isn't why he's ignoring me, but what IS the reason?! Men. Are. The. Worst.I closed it and groaned, this was the worst. I texted him again,
Riley: Hey, Riley again. So I don't mean to ask too much of you but, if you could please pick up it would be much appreciated!
I sighed again and looked at the ceiling. The ceiling apparently gave me an inspirational thought; I was hungry.
I sat up and put on slippers. I grabbed my phone and plugged in headphones, the song young volcanos played by Fall Out Boy. I skipped it, I didn't need any more memories of Logan until he replied. I passed my mirror and looked at myself. I was in sweats and a t shirt, my messy bun was more mess than bun. I looked like a mess.
I shrugged, whatever. I continued the trek down the flights of stairs to the kitchen. Once I was there I grabbed a bowl of microwaveable Chinese noodles. I threw it in the microwave, pressed four minutes, and spun around stylishly.
"Can anybody find meeee somebody to love. Da da Duna da duna da dun. Each morning I get up a dawn, can't barely stand on my feeet!" I sang along to the Queen song loudly and purposefully off key. I continued my song and dance until the microwave beeped. "Hallelujah!" I opened it and threw the spice powered in it. I grabbed a fork and stirred it around as I walked up stairs. Once I was back in my room I looked at my phone, I had four texts from Logan! My phone didn't have it's ringer on apparently.
I opened the first one
Logan: Hey. sorry about not responding.
Logan: I really need to talk to you.
Logan: About last night.
Logan: I'll just tell you. Riley, I was drunk last night. I don't remember anything but I heard that you and I had a... moment. I hate to say this but we're just friends. Nothing more. I'm really sorry about last night, hopefully it didn't mean much to you. I don't like anyone right now.
I dropped the phone. I couldn't believe it. The best day ever just turned out to be a total fake. I felt like I should cry but I couldn't and wouldn't. I didn't cry, ever.
But this had really stung. Sadly, I knew what I had to do. I unlocked my phone,
Riley: It's good. I didn't notice you were drunk. We didn't really share a moment, just a kiss that meant nothing. So what's up?
I had just completely lied but what else was I supposed to do?
Logan: Ok, it wasn't like seriously drunk but enough to where I did stupid stuff and I don't remember much. And nm, hbu
Riley: Samee
I texted Taylor everything that had just happened.
Taylor: WHAT.
Riley: I know.
Taylor: I'm so sorry!
Riley: It's fine, I played it cool.
Taylor: What are you up to?
Riley: Literally nothing.
Taylor: Well get dressed up, you have a triple date tonight.
Riley: ... What.
Taylor: Yep! Jordan invited me out for dinner with two of his buddies but they needed dates. One of them found the other a date but the last guy doesn't have one. Wanna come?
Riley: No... but I know you'll make me so let's just skip that. I'll be over in a few.
Taylor: See you bby
I smiled and put my phone in it's charger. I walked over to my closet and pulled on jeans and a tank. I sighed and brushed my hair. I let it fall down to its full length.
Once my phone was charged, I put it in my pocket and grabbed my skateboard. "Going to Taylor's!"
I yelled and closed the door to the house.
I hopped on my skateboard and went across the street and down a few more.
I came to a house with a gate. I pushed the button to the side and said my name. I was let it and went into the driveway. Once I was at the top I hopped off and put my skateboard by the door. I rang the doorbell and Taylor's mom answered it. "Hi Riley!"
"Hi Mrs. Hillson!"
"Taylor's in her room."
I said a quick thanks and ran to her room.
I found Taylor applying make up in her mirror. She saw me and jumped up, "Riley! What are you wearing you're going on a date!"
She grabbed my hand and pulled me into her closet. She handed me a dress and told me to go try it on. I walked into her bathroom and put on the dress. It was cream-colored lace short dress. I sighed I looked nice but I wasn't sure about this date. I paused, I was going to go and have fun. Thus was my life and Logan wasn't going to ruin it.
I walked out with my converse on. Taylor looked down, "No."
"Taylor, I would rather stay alive for the meal," I looked at her six inch heels, "Those aren't gonna work for me."
She giggled, "Whatever. You're too stubborn, this is a losing battle."
I winked. She sat me down in her chair and took a long look at my hair. "It's date-worthy." She proclaimed. My hair was slightly messy but Taylor said it looked fine.
Jordan picked us up. I finally got a look at him. He was a dark brunette with dazzling sea green eyes. He had tab skin but not as tan as Logan or Parker's. He looked vaguely familiar.
We pulled up to a nice looking restaurant. I stepped out of the car and was soon followed by Jordan and Taylor. They were holding hands. Jordan acknowledged me, "Everyone else is inside." He shook his hair out of his eyes and I sighed, Logan did that all the time.
We walked in and I saw the people at our table. "Riley?" Sadie said surprised. She was seated next to Parker. It hit me, I had seen Jordan at the lacrosse game.
I heard a laugh and looked over, "Apparently you're my date."
And that's how I ended up on a date with my brother.
