ellie is now back in la and i'm standing in front of my bathroom mirror as i get myself ready for a lunch date with cailee spaeny. we've had this planned for a bit now and before i start packing for an 'impromptu' trip to louisiana to surprise nick, i think having lunch with her is going to be fun. especially to be able to meet someone before hand so i'm not heading onto set blind like i did last time.
i was going to head up to toronto before i head to louisiana but i called sofia and come to find out, really only the actors and actresses needed to be there at the date i was going to arrive. so, that gave me about a week to spare. i'm due to spend about a week in louisiana and roughly two months in toronto and then we shall see where the show takes me next.
as i pull the curler from the top of my head, i get a text.
cailee <3 excitedto meet you! i'll be ready in 15 heading out then!
i reply with a swift, 'sounds good, see you then!' and start running around like a chicken with its head cut off. i thought i had a lot longer to get ready! i throw my socks on, put the shirt i planned to wear on; to my dismay it looked terrible on me. so i started throwing things from my closet, onto my bed and trying them on. i settled with a loose white long sleeve and i'll wear my black jacket over it.
i put on my clunky oxford doc martens and check how i look. it was going to take me a minute to arrive at the cafe we were meeting at so i needed to go. i grabbed my phone, my purse, and my correct mindset and walked out of the door and down to the lobby.
i have a pep in my step as i make my way to the cafe. the text i sent was sent twenty five minutes ago and depending where she is staying, she may or may not already be there. once i round the corner of a building, the cafe is in my sight. i try not to look too out of sorts and like i just robbed the nearest designer store, so i slow my pace down.
when i was up to the door of the cafe, i am met with someone also looking to walk in at the same time. "oh, what a coincidence!" cailee says. "oh my gosh!" i say. i let go of the door handle and we reach in for a hug. "it's so nice to meet you!" i say. "it's so nice to meet you as well. it's long overdue." she says and we both laugh.
we make our way inside and find a table. "so, how are you?" i ask her. "i'm fine, i'm fine. just trying to mentally prepare myself for what's to come." she says. "i bet. this is probably a lot of pressure on you, huh? such a big role. i mean, this isn't just some short, 'inspired by' film, priscilla is literally gonna be there." i say and we laugh a little. "i know! it's kind of crazy. i've just been sitting up in my room running over the script and talking to sofia. it seems pretty open, like, no pressure or anything but... come on now." she says.
