As the sun sets, they leave, leaving all the many bags full of clothing. We are moved into a bigger room with a double bed. Mackenzie and Will drift of the sleep eventually, leaving us two is peace. I kissed each of the foreheads goodnight before they fell asleep. Cato slips under the covering next to me, wrapping his arms around me.
"We have the most beautiful children in the world".
"I can't deny it", I say, shuffling closer to him.
"Look how far we've come: the games, Kayla's games, Brianna, the capitol, district 13...we survived so much, and I'm so glad I survived it with you. Your my entire world", Cato kisses my cheek.
"You made me see brightness on the darkest of days, you were always there for me. Always".
"Well, what can I say? We are forever". I blush, my cheeks go red. My mind flies back to the first time we said this, the butterflies begin. Then, I realise: all these years, all these painful years, Cato has given me nothing but happiness and hope. Hope that there is a way out of this, and there always was.
So when I say, "And always", I link every every memory back to it, like I'm trying to finish a puzzle but Cato was my missing piece
