Cato

"Cato!", I hear a strangled scream. It could only be my Clove. The same scream she screamed in the Hunger Games!

I try to jump back off the ladder but the currents freeze me in place, all I say yell is, "I will find you!". Then everything goes black.

I'm not sure how long I have been asleep but it has defiantly been a while. My eyes take time to adjust to the dim lighting. We are not in district 2, nor the Capitol. I'm surrounded by doctors in white clothing with matching masks. People lie either side of me, one wears a mask over her face and stitches across her cheek and forehead. She looks familiar but then again, I probably hit my head somewhere along the way. An old man lies on the other side of me with what looks like a heart monitor.

"How do you feel?", questions a doctor with light brown hair.

"Yes, I think so. Where am I?", I ask.

"District 13", he tells me. What?

"W-what? Why aren't we in district 2?".

"Cato, there is no district 2. It's all gone, when you were saved, firebombs were dropped", he informs.

"M-my family", I whisper.

"We got them out in time. They are safe".

"We?". I lift myself up a bit so I'm sitting.

"Us. The rebels".

"Where is Clove?", I cry.

"She is here. Look who is next to you". Too my left lays the love of my life. It's all too much; I do my rest to sleep again.

When I wake up again, a little girl, she must be about 1 sitting at the end of my bed playing with a doll.

"Hello", I say. Her big brown eyes light up when she sees me. The little girl crawls across the bed and nestles herself into my bare chest.

"Daddy", is all she says.

"Brianna", I whisper, "Is that you?".

She nods and says, "Yes,I knew I would find you". My breathing is so rapid that I'm afraid I'm going to scare her. I do my best to slow it down to a regular pace.

The same doctor appears to say, "I see you have met Brianna. She has been waiting outside the door for days!".

I am transferred into a family apartment underground. When Clove is better, she will join us. Her parents are staying next door with Kayla I am told and the remain of my family aren't too far either. Brianna insists that I tell her everything about myself.

"Well...I'm Cato but you call me dad or daddy. I love cooking". I don't dare tell her about the Hunger Games...yet.

"What about mummy?", she asks.

"Your mother is the most beautiful girl in the world, she has the voice of an angel", I tell her.

"When mummy is better, we can be a proper family".

"We are a proper family, even without her".

"That's not what all the fairy tales say".

"Some stories just aren't true", I tell her.

Clove

"Cato!", I scream through the bars as he is lifted up into the air. I hear him scream back and then I'm alone again apart from a very annoying buzzing sound coming from outside. A loud thud comes from outside my door; I jump up to see the guards dropping one by one like flies. Next the door opens. What the hell is happening? Sure, it's a good thing but what is happening?
