Chapter 12

Clove

I mange to relax a bit as the flight back to District 13 goes one. All my cuts and scars sting like hell but I suppose it could be worse. Just as I'm drifting off, I feel Cato getting off and without really thinking about it, I say,"Please, don't go".

"I was going to get you a blanket, the floor is cold", he protests. And it is true, the floor is cold but I would much rather use up Cato's body heat.

"I'm okay. Please stay with me", I whimper.

"Always", he says as he brushes my hair, "Always", he repeats in a whisper voice now.

I am once again put straight into hospital for an examination. According to the doctors, no major damage has happened, just a few cuts and bruises. When I'm released, I run straight to find Brianna. Cato has her sitting on his lap reading.

"And they all lived happily ever after", he finishes. Considering I shut the door fairly loudly, Brianna jumps straight of Cato and into my arms.

"Mummy, mummy!", she yells, "I'm so happy your back". Brianna brings a few tears to my eyes when I hug her, "You too princess".

Kayla comes over that afternoon with Xander.

"I'm so so glad your okay", Kayla cries in my arms, "Please don't ever leave again".

"I will do my very best. Cato will protect me", I say still hugging Kayla.

"Xander, I'm sorry about your great uncle...it's just-", says Cato. Oh yeah, Cato shot and stabbed him.

"Don't apologise. We are all so much safer", Xander says. I notice that him and Kayla seem to be holding hands...

"Anyway, we came over to be watch Brianna whilst you relax", says Kayla.

"Your the best sister in the world!", I exclaim and hug her again.

Xander and Kayla spend hours in Brianna's room with her dolls. She seems to really like them! Cato and I just sit down and watch tv.

"Your so so beautiful", he says once we are sitting: my head resting on his lap.

"How many times have you told me that?", I laugh. It must be the 100th time today!

"As long as it takes to get you to say 'I know'", he says while stroking my hair.

"Don't you get board?".

"Never, your perfectness makes my world complete Clovers". I snort at this but them sit up and crash my lips into his.

"I've missed your kisses", he says. His lips gently kiss my neck, making me shudder ever so slightly with delight.

"You okay? I didn't mean to-", he says but I interrupt by kissing him passionately on his lips his neck, "Clove...", he moans quietly. I give him the look, the weak spot look and he can't help but let me continue.

"One second", I say and climb off his lap to run into Brianna's room.

"Kayla, Xander, come here quickly", I say. They do as they are told.

"Do me a massive favour and take Brianna out for a few hours. Just while Cato and I...hang".

"Hang...of course", she says sarcastically, "No more babies". I laugh at this.

"Not yet", I laugh, "That goes for you two as well". I point at them both and them blush then laugh.

We have a few hours together thanks to an amazing little sister and her male friend. I decide to dress up a bit for Cato. From the Capitol photo shoot I was given some clothing that appear to of ended up here.
