"Are you alright?" Emily asks while on their way back to their dorm.

She had noticed that Shadow became quiet and calm which is not the normal her. She's usually loud and everywhere all the time.

"Yeah. Why?"

"You're too quiet. The last time you were like that was when you told me you and Elijah broke up. And you were sad. Are you sad now too?"

Shadow chuckled as she looks at Emily's innocent and clueless face.

How I wish to be on her place right now.
To not think of anything...
The alpha thought.

"My detention is over." She said to her and Emily's face became more confused.

"Aren't you supposed to be happy?" She asked with a pout.

"I am happy. I'll be able to rejoin our camp fire again." Shadow said but it came out rather plain and it sounds monotone.

"Really. Tell me what really happened." Emily demands as she stops walking and crossed her arms while furrowing her brows.

Shadow also stopped and looks at her reaction. Emily is the only person she confides with her secrets. She always keeps her secrets even if it's about dreaming of pushing Raze off a cliff. They both equally hate him anyway.

Eventually. The alpha gave up and released a deep breath.

"Elijah asked me to leave Bright alone." She said which rendered Emily speechless.

"W-why would he ask that from you? They can be friends with Bright but not you?" Emily commented with a little aggravated tone.

But before Shadow could say something, the young omega suddenly gasped a bit dramatically.

"D-does he like him? Oh God! I actually thought he liked Nicholas. I even placed a bet for him!"

"Okay! First! I didn't know you made a bet that Elijah like Nicholas or even a guy in the first place! Second! He doesn't like Bright! He's just protective of him because he didn't want what happened to us before to happen again!" Shadow suddenly rambled making Emily shut up.

But after explaining, the omega had more questions than answers.

"Y-you like Bright? I thought you hate him." She asked while whispering and anxiously looking around in case someone pass by.

"I don't hate him." Shadow sighed as she continued walking and Emily following like a tail.

"But you won't deny that you like him?"

Emily made the same dramatic reaction again when Shadow didn't respond. But as realization also hits her. She began to understood why Shadow is acting this way.

Bright is a nomad vampire. And no matter how much they try to cover it, it will not change the fact that their family will never allow it.

Them being seen close will ruin Shadow's dream to become a hunter. And it will tarnish their family's name.

"It's all settled now. Bright and I won't be friends for good."

"Where have you been?! You've made us so worried we thought you got lost again!" Nicholas scolded Bright.

He and the other two was about to sneak out of their dorm again because Bright didn't came back. The party is over and the time given to them as an extra to return back to their dorms are also over. But Bright never came back in time.

Just as when Gabriel opened the door to leave, Bright came in as if nothing happened. They thought at first that he sneaked out with Shadow again but he said that he was alone and a guard helped him back to their dorm.

"I looked for the bathroom but I ended up in the greenhouse instead." Bright clearly lied just so he won't be questioned.

He keeps moving his eyes at the three as if scanning them like a machine.

"Are you alright? I don't know if it's just my eyes but I think you're malfunctioning." Nicholas said a little playful since he also noticed the way Bright scans them with his eyes.

"Are you guys okay?" Bright suddenly asked back and made the three exchange looks at each other.

Elijah sighed and walked towards him. He knows that something is wrong. But it is still Bright who decides if he wants to tell them what's happening to him.

"We're okay. But I don't think you are." The alpha said to him and brushed Bright's hair.

"I'm okay." Bright forced a smile at them before he walks to the bathroom. Simply so he can hide from them once he burst out.

Bright ran as fast as he could. Trying to escape his mother who tried to kidnap him and bring him to wherever the rest of the purebloods are hiding.

He knows that if Olivia managed to take him away. Nobody would know of the danger that his friends are about to face. And it won't be just his friends but the whole university. Especially Shadow.

His escape angered his mother even more and Olivia would do everything to make sure Bright is on their side and will not ruin her plans.

Bright will never dare to let her succeed again. Especially now that he knows the whole truth.

It is not just about his family anymore. But the whole history that became a foundation of the new world he is in right now.

I don't care anymore about myself...

As long as I can protect them from her...

That is what my father would've want me to do...

If being selfish will protect Shadow from my mother...

Bright stared at himself on the mirror. Thinking of his new plan and setting aside the dying part for himself.

I will make sure Shadow will never become a hunter.
