Worlds Away

Days went exceptionally fast and it's already weekends. For Shadow, it'll be the only time she can rejoin their pack's hunt which she would never want to miss after her long detention. She left with Emily first thing in the morning.

They were able to join the family breakfast which became all about Shadow being scolded for causing trouble. After their breakfast, most of the young alphas went down to their backyard to get ready for their hunt.

"Don't be too proud of yourself, Raze. Just because I've been gone for a few days doesn't mean you've gotten better." Shadow mocked while wrapping her hands with a bandage. Not bothering to spare the other a glance.

Raze simply scoffed and rolled his eyes at the girl. He's grown tired of Shadow always mocking him and showing off who's better. And the fact that Shadow had never lost against him is more irritating. Shadow is the only alpha he had always strived to win against.

She may be known as the infamous trouble maker she-alpha. But one thing that people never really noticed is that Shadow is a hundred times better than Raze in every way. Shadow is not the type to show it off unless she's gonna mock her fiancee. So people doesn't really know that she is the strongest alpha alive. 

Raze figured if he becomes aggressive and hostile, it might paint him as the strongest and taking the title away from Shadow. But Shadow knew better that hostility does not prove who's the strongest. She'd rather let the people find out on their own.

The pack eventually went off and began their hunt in the Maylock Till's forest. Hence the name, the forest is owned and the territory of both powerful families. It is so big that some parts are still left unexplored.

The preys they will capture today would be prepared for their weekly feast. Which is very important as part of their family tradition. All members of both families meet and have dinner together to strengthen their bond. This is usually where every important news are announced, and that included Raze and Shadow's arranged marriage.

Although Shadow already have a fiancee. She does not take it seriously, which is how she ended up dating Elijah.

Elijah was very good to her. He was kind, gentle and caring. He was everything that every omegas would wish for. But because Shadow is already tied to someone else, they had to stay away from each other. She loved him but it wasn't enough to fight for him.

During the hunt, Shadow led half of the pack to the deep part of the forest. Where many of their preys are found. Rich and fat of flesh. By the time they reached that part of the woods, everyone already shifted to their wolf forms. Enhancing their abilities even more.

Shadow padded closer behind the big oak tree. Eyeing a big stag that was drinking on a small pond. Unaware of the closing predators that are about to turn him to a meal.

Shadow in her wolf form is big and magnificent. She has snow white furs and glowing grey eyes. Her white tail also has highlights of silver. Shadow is the biggest among the wolves around her. She is also the same size as Raze who is a black furred wolf.

The she-alpha quietly growled as she quietly leaned. And within only a second, she jumped on the stag and piercing her sharp and long fangs on its skin before it could ran. Her attack also served as a cue for the rest of the wolves as they all lunged to the stag and targeted its head and had it removed from the body.

Shadow made a loud howl announcing the first kill to every werewolf in the forest. The rest of the wolves with her also howled along.

Two wolves from their pack brought the stag back to the manor after shifting to their human form. Shadow and the rest had continued hunting.

Continious howling were heard in the forest. Announcing multiple kills from the pack that actually makes up to a total of four stags, and five deers.

Eventually, the sun began to set and darkness is starting to paint the forest. Shadow howled calling everyone home. They didn't bother to hurry back home and just padded their way to the forest as a large pack.

It wasn't even ten minutes yet when Shadow's pack heard a loud and terrified scream of a woman. 

This immediately alerted everyone and Shadow took the lead to track down the scream. A lot of hurried pads echoed among the trees as the pack of wolves searched to find the woman who seemed to be in help.

Scatter around! 

Shadow commanded telepathically which divided the pack to every direction. Expanding the search in the large forest. 

About 15 minutes went by and another alarming howling was heard but it was abruptly cut off. It made Shadow and the rest of the pack more alarmed.

When they reached where the howl came from. They were surprised seeing an injured wolf groaning in pain while clutching his bleeding shoulder. 

Beside him lies a dead woman. She has a huge slash on her neck and blood all over her body. She seemed like an office worker and is also human. The poor lady must be on her way home before she got taken.

"Vampire! She escaped!" The injured wolf said to Shadow.

The alpha hissed as she checked his injuries. Shifting into her human form in the process while other wolves surrounded them in a protecting manner.

"Scour the area! If you do not find anything in thirty minutes! Return back to the manor immediately!" She commanded and half of the wolves immediately ran to follow her order.

They decided to take the injured wolf and the dead woman with them. Bringing them home.

Their medics immediately tended to their only witness while Shadow and the elders are with the dead body, watching as their doctor examine it.

"This poor girl died not just because she was bitten. The intense bruising around her neck shows that her predator broke it first. Before drinking from her." The doctor stated while scanning the injuries.

"I have seen vampires kill before. And this! This is a work of a pure blood! They are the only monstrous creature who chooses to torture their victims first!" One of the elders from Raze's family said.

"Outrageous! How could they do this in our territory!" Another elder exclaimed.

Raze and Shadow only exchanged looks at each other before they decided to leave and let the elders take care of the matter.

"What did you guys see out there?" Raze asked.

"The rest of the pack that I've ordered to scour the place returned with no news. But we know that it is a vampire. I think it's best to question our only witness." Shadow said with a tired sigh.

The two are on their way to the infirmary when they noticed that a lot more doctors are going to the same direction. By the time they reached the room, Shadow ran to join the commotion and saw their injured wolf continiously vomiting blood.

She frozed on the spot as she watched with wide eyes. Raze who went after her also have the same reaction.

The wolf was vomiting nonstop as if his insides are melted and he is throwing it all up. The floor is covered with dark blood and it almost looked like it was burnt into color black. His eyes are also blinded which isn't even like it before.

"Dark magic." Raze mumbled upon recognizing the poor wolf's condition. 

They've been taught and made aware about black magic before. But they never expected to see it in person until that evening. They were also told that many pureblood vampires are gifted with it. 

"We will never be truly safe until all of those purebloods are annihilated. "
