It's finally lunch time and literally every student of the school came to the big canteen as if there's been a panic buying. The line was too long and almost all the seats were taken. Even though not a lot of vampires occupy the crowded place, it's still packed and almost no space left for more.

Vampires are provided a separate place to have their lunch where they are the only ones allowed in that spot. It is to make sure that they will be able to avoid the tempting scent of a crowded place. Therefore preventing a massacre.

And because of this rule. Bright had no choice but to separate ways from his friends and find his way to the vampires' drinking area. It's also the same place where they get their daily potion to drink so they can walk under the sun.

As Bright arrived at the area. He felt a small part of home finding himself among his peers. It somehow feels comfortable yet uncomfortable at the same time. Because being with nomads and half bloods makes his blood burn.

He can never forget the betrayal that their ancestors did against his family. Many of the pure bloods died because of them and they were forced into hiding.

Bright's family does not murder humans for sports. They have a sacred agreement with the humans in their country.
The family will protect them from bandits and slavery. And in exchange, they will offer blood once a month to strengthen the connection. And Bright's father always dreamed to set an example to other purebloods in order to live in harmony with other kinds.

He'll be happy now if only he's still alive...

Bright thought as he thinks of the present. Nomads and half bloods were allowed to live because werewolves and humans don't see them as a threat anymore.

But it also scared Bright that what if he's discovered.

Will his death put a good end to their long rivalry?

"Hey." Bright turned around hearing a voice from behind.

It was one of his roommates. The nomad. He's obviously younger than Bright and smaller in height.

"That was great earlier. At the race." He said in a rather blunt tone despite his effort to congratulate his fellow.

"I didn't win." Bright said in the same tone.

The nomad suddenly hands him something. It was a tube with a gold dew inside. And the tube had barcodes on it as well as a printed name of LUNE.

Bright stared at it. The name itself threw him to many memories and at the same time, questioning why the nomad is handing it to him.

"Take it." The nomad said and beckons Bright to accept it.

Sensing that he wouldn't. The nomad sighs with a little frustration. A bit offended that he's not trusted.

"It's the sun potion!" He deadpanned furrowing his brows at the taller vampire. "You're acting like you've never seen this before." He added.

Bright wanted to avoid being suspected so he immediately accepted it after the nomad explained what it was.

"Sorry. Trust issues." He said briefly and had to drink the potion while the nomad watched.

"Thanks." Bright clears his throat and awkwardly looks away because the younger is still staring at him.

"I'm Gabriel." He introduced himself and offered his hand.

Bright looked at it and smiled a little. His favorite gesture.

"Bright." He said as he accepted the handshake.

"We're both nomads. So you don't have to put your guard up too much." Gabriel chuckles before he walks past the taller and signaled him to follow. Which Bright unconsciously did and the two sat on a corner near the window.

"You seem pretty close to those wolves. Alphas to be precise." Gabriel started without sparing him a glance.

He took a sip from the black tumbler he's been carrying since earlier. Bright's strong sense of smell tells him that it contains animal blood.

"They approached me first. I didn't see any harm." Bright replied which made Gabriel turn to him with disbelief.

"Since when did wolves stopped harming us? The half bloods are the only one who's lucky. We're still treated like putrid pure bloods as if we're vermins." Gabriel muttered under his breath and the way his gaze changed shows that he had a lot of hate bottled inside him.

"You seem to hate purebloods a lot."

"Everybody does. We should've had the rights to access the Blood Empire but those pure bloods are so selfish to the core and made sure they're the only ones who can live well off."

"The Blood Empire? Why do you hate pure bloods for gold instead of the hunters who killed them?" Bright questioned with a tad offended tone.

Gabriel suddenly looked at him with a furious expression.

"And why not? They are selfish and they deserved to be killed. And those golds?! Having that is enough to build all of us a life. To help us get back on our feet!" The nomad exclaimed a little riled up.

Bright decided not to go against his words anymore as it might cause unnecessary attention or suspicion from other vampires.

"We can't access it even if we want to. Even if the heir dies, the government will just keep the treasures to themselves." Bright made a neutral statement to segue Gabriel's reaction.

"Tsk! If I find that heir. I will not hesitate to kill him." He said with spite and took another sip from his tumbler.

Gabriel must've noticed he wasn't drinking since Bright is not carrying anything.

"Are you not thirsty? If you make a scene just because you didn't drink blood, it will be harder for all of us." Gabriel said to him and Bright felt a little lost of what he should answer.

"I... I've finished. I went out to hunt before coming here." Bright suddenly felt proud that he was able to think of a lie. He remembered the forest where he came through to enter the city and that was close to the school.

"You still hunt?" Gabriel chuckled.

"Y-yeah. Is that bad? It's not like I'm drinking human blood." Bright tried to reason it out and Gabriel seems to have bought it.

To him. Gabriel is a dangerous nomad. He may not be as powerful as pure bloods. But his rage against them might be just the perfect drive for him.

But he can't blame him either. Gabriel's anger is also valid because he also felt betrayed for suffering the consequences.

After lunch. The students went back to their classrooms to resume classes. Bright didn't have to worry about not having lunch since he had already mastered how to last weeks without drinking anything. Although it makes him weak at times, he can manage with his years of experience.

As the class went on. Bright's head was occupied by Gabriel. He couldn't get his mind off him as well as what he said.
Or the anger he expressed against pure bloods.

Unbeknownst to him is that his seatmate is also equally distracted. And thinking literally about him and the race earlier.
