"Ow!!!" Bright practically screamed when Elijah suddenly hit his head with a pillow.
It's already midnight when Shadow and Bright walked in to their new room. She had to make sure Bright gets inside because of his bad sense of direction. Otherwise he might get lost again.
But as soon as he walked in and Elijah recognized him, he started hitting the poor vampire with a pillow.
"Are you fu**ing crazy!!? You had us worried sick!!!" Elijah was yelling at him.
Nicholas and Gabriel would've pulled him away for Bright's sake but they were also worried. They thought he got caught by a patrol or he got lost and was stuck somewhere in the school.
The three stayed up all night and stared at Elijah's phone. Waiting for Shadow to call so they can ask her for help again to track down the stupid vampire."He was with me." Shadow said to make Elijah stop.
Of course the other three looked at her rather baffled. And Elijah eventually realized that Bright's not wearing his uniform. But a jersey with Shadow's name on it.
Nicholas dramatically gasped as he pointed at the two. Elijah and Gabriel on the other hand looked rather terrified by their first guess.
"It's not what you think!" Shadow huffed as she crossed her arms. "We went to hunt in the forest. I'm sure I'm not the only who noticed that he forgot to feed this week so I went to the forest with him." She explained and making sure to alter a little fact so they won't suspect him.
"Why on earth will he be wearing your shirt!? Any body will think you slept together!" Elijah exclaimed and his last statement made Bright completely flustered and his eyes were wide.
"N-no! We didn't! W-why would you think that!? That's ridiculous!" Bright frantically defends rather too much. His cheeks were so red.
"Because you're wearing her clothes. Although, it's usually the other way around." Nicholas chuckled before he walked to the vampire.
"Come on. Get changed first. The good thing in our new room is we have our own bathroom." He said playfully before pulling the vampire with him.
After they've gone. Elijah stared at Shadow for a bit before he beckoned her to follow him outside the room. Good thing is there isn't a cctv there since it broke during the last storm and hasn't been fixed yet. So no one will see Shadow there.
"What? If you're pissed that I didn't reply to your messages, I was too busy making sure we won't get caught." Shadow tries to explain because of the taller's piercing stare.
"What do you want from him?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You know da*n well what I'm talking about!" Shadow flinched at Elijah's sudden change of tone and grabbing her right arm. He sounded angry which is rare for his personality.
"I don't! Now let go!" Shadow growled and pulled her arm away from his grip.
"Why would you bring Bright with you? What if your pack saw you? Do you have any idea what they will do to him?!" Elijah whispered with gritted teeth.
"I am very aware! And I will not let that happen!" Shadow replies in the same tone. She didn't like the fact as to why Elijah is suddenly acting this way.
It's as if he's indirectly telling her to stay away from Bright. Because even if he did, she will never listen. She's already gone too far to even think of going back.
"Is this just one of your games to make him interested and then you'll dump him after?! He is a vampire for crying out loud. You won't be just betraying him but also your family!"
"I know that!" Shadow growled as she pushed Elijah to back off. Her face clearly shows evidently offended.
"You think I meant for this to happen? If you're still angry about what my family did to you, I'm sorry. And I'm sorry if I was an idiot to not defend you against them."
"But this is different. You don't know what I know."
"Different?" Elijah suddenly scoffed. "How?"
"Are you willing to fight for him against your family? Or are you gonna abandon him like when you abandoned me?"
Shadow felt her heart broke. She didn't knew she had hurted Elijah deeper than she thought. And hearing it now coming from his mouth made her feel the pain of realization.
What if she just listens to Elijah now?
There's no telling whether she is ready to betray her family just because she is interested with a pureblood vampire.
What if she just end up hurting him just like what she did to Elijah?
Bright doesn't deserve that. She knows it to her heart."Bright and Gabriel are my only nomad friends. And I intend to keep them both. Gabriel will not stand idle if you betray Bright. And so will I."
"If you like him. You know better than anyone what you should do."
Shadow became quiet and just stared at Elijah. Contemplating his words and thinking of a better decision that will be for the better.
And after a few minutes of silence. Shadow took one step back. And then another. Eventually, she turned her back on Elijah and continued walking without looking back.
Elijah watch with relief knowing that Shadow made the right decision. But unbeknownst to him are the tears that unconsciously spread on the wolf's cheeks.
That's probably the first time she cried for someone other than her pack.
When she and Elijah broke up, she didn't cry. She didn't feel any tremendous pain to shed a single tear. But Bright. She isn't deeply in love with him nor can proudly say that she likes the pureblood. Maybe she is indeed interested and likes him somehow, but there is something more to it that she can't put into words.
And to think that she needs to stop whatever she is planning with him. Also means she will give up on learning more about Bright.
It is better like this....
He doesn't need to find out that I already know...
He's safer that way.I hope you liked the chapter.
