The next day came, and Reece pretty much acted the same. Really loud, outgoing, and that flaming red hair.

Then, we went to gym.

The unit was basketball. We were playing games now. Obviously, Reece was amazing. Even the boys team captain, Peter, who was also amazing at basketball, had her as his first pick.

She played and played and played. She never got tired. I was astounded.

Then, she got fouled. She stayed on the floor, waiting for the gym teacher to call the fouler out, but nothing came.

"Foul?" Reece said loudly, in the form of a question.

"No, it's not a foul," said the gym teacher.

Reece practically exploded as she jumped to her feet. "WHAT!" She yelled. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THAT WAS A FOUL! He hit my hand!" Luckily, she wasn't loud enough to get detention, but that didn't stop the gym teacher from looking taken aback, just like Ms. Farell.

"Reece, why don't you go take a walk," he said quietly.

Reece sniffed defiantly, said, "It still was a foul," and stalked out the door. I followed her, mumbling an explanation about "giving her directions" to the gym teacher as I walked out.

As soon as the door closed, I dragged Reece to the girls bathroom.

"Really, Reece? Did you have to do that? You're lucky you didn't end up in detention!" I scold.

"Sorry, but that was a foul!" Reece says, her fists balled. When she does this, she looks really mad, but I'm not paying attention to her face. I looking at her hands. Are they on.. fire?

As soon as I realize it, I suppress the urge to scream.

"Reece," I say, trying to be calm, "You're on fire. Don't panic. Stop drop and roll. Or, whatever they tell us to do if we catch fire."

When I look up, Reece isn't rolling around in the floor. She looks completely calm.

Huh? Why is she calm?

I'll see. I focus in on her thoughts.

"Great job, Reece. Your cover is blown. Oh, well. She's obviously the same, anyway. Just tell her. And make her promise to keep it a secret." Her thoughts say.

What?

"Um, I can control that fire." Reece says. "I kind of, um have superpowers?" I had never seen her act so timid.

Oh.

"How?" I whisper.
