Chapter 35: Before We Have a Problem

"Hey, that guy looks a little shady," Reece says, catching up to me. 

"I know," I say, "He's the robber."

Reece gives me an astonished look, that surely says, 'How did you know that?'. Reading her mind (well, not really), I cut her off before she can ask. 

"No time to explain. We've gotta catch this guy!"

And with that, I run into the bank. As soon as I'm inside, I can clearly see that the people are under a lot of pressure. They've been forced to get on the ground and not do or say anything. I open my mouth to ask them something, but a lady forewarns me with a finger to her mouth. 

Naturally, Reece has no regard for forewarnings. 

"Can anyone tell us who just came in here? Where did he go?" she yells, and the people immediately stiffen with fright. 

"Reece!" I hiss, but she keeps going.

"We're the Extraordinaires, a superhero team, if you would like to know, and we're on your side. So there's no reason to be afraid, because we want to help you. Now, where did this guy go?" she says in what she probably thinks is a nice, calming tone. It is, but NOT AT THE MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

The people just begin to stare at her like they'd seen a ghost, and then a door creaks open.

"Well, well, well, look what we have here," the man we saw before sneers, slowly sliding out of the door and into the room. "It's a little too early for Halloween, don't you think, kiddies?" 

I notice he's holding a blackjack. Uh oh. 

"We know, and these aren't Halloween costumes," Reece says angrily. "So why don't you shut up and hand over the money you've stolen!"

"Yeah. Before we have a problem," Fauna adds, punching her fist menacingly.

"Sure thing, girls, I'll give you the money," the man murmurs, slowly walking around us in a circle. 

"In your dreams!" he cackles. 

Well, it looks like we've got a problem.
