It's been about a week or so since our first Extraordinaire meeting, and everything's been going great. Even though Isabella, Flora, and Fauna are in 6th grade, we still see each other sometimes. We decided to practice our powers every Wednesday, and since the old library is way to small to hold 6 people with powers whizzing everywhere, we decided to practice at Flora's and Fauna's house. Today is Wednesday, and school's out, so I'm walking to the address that Fauna gave us.
Having the meetings at their house seemed like a great idea at the time, since they were talking about how they have a big basement that would be great for our practicing, but now it doesn't seem like such a great idea anymore. What if someone in their family sees us? Sees us having powers? What if their mom comes down to, oh, I don't know, give us cookies or something and sees us using our powers? The whole concept of our powers being a secret would be ruined.
I arrive at the address, which is 180 Macintosh Place, and look up. It's a nice, medium-sized house, and painted a pale yellow with blue shutters. I walk up the steps and ring the doorbell. A woman, supposedly Flora's and Fauna's mom, opens the door. She has tan skin, brown eyes, and light brown hair, just like her daughters, except she wears her hair down and wavy instead of in a bun or in 2 braids.
"Hello! You must be Aurora," she says, smiling.
"Yep, that's me, Mrs..." I say, but my face falls. I don't even know their last name?
"You can call me Christine," she says, laughing. Her laugh brings my smile back. "You're here to practice your powers, right?" Christine continues in a more hushed voice.
I gape at Christine, eyes wide. How does she know?
