Chapter 23: Isabella, Flora and Fauna

Once I open the door, we are greeted by the sound of girls whispering.

Not a good sign.

"Hi," I say. The 3 girls look up.

One has brown hair, tan skin, has a necklace with an ivory I charm, and wears pretty much all gray.

One has light brown hair in a bun, light skin, and wears a bright pink dress, a light pink scarf, a necklace with a leaf charm, and green leggings.

The other looks exactly like the one next to her: light brown hair and light skin, only her hair is in 2 high braids, and she has a turquoise shirt, blue pants, and a necklace with a paw print charm.

"Um, I'm Aurora," I begin, but the one with the 2 braids stops me by putting her hand up.

"We know who you are," she says, her braids shaking slightly. "Let us introduce ourselves first, since you don't know us."

"Okay," I say weakly.

"First off, we're all in 6th grade, and we're best friends, just like you guys." the girls says.

How did she know we're best friends?

"I'm Fauna. This is Flora, my twin sister," Fauna says as she gestures to the girl with the pretty bun and the bright pink dress, who waves shyly.

Flora and fauna are the scientific terms for plants and animals, if you didn't know.

"And this is Isabella." Fauna points to the girl in all gray, who steps forward.

"Okay," Isabella says. "What we called you here for us to say is that we have superpowers, too."

"WHAT?" Reece half-yells. "You do?"

"Yep," Isabella says. "And we overheard that you guys are going to create a super hero team. We want to join."

What? All right, who told?

"What?" Reece yells, now enraged. "Tempest, did you tell anyone?"

"No," Tempest says timidly. "I didn't tell anyone!"

"Then did you, Aurora?"

"No!" I say. "I wouldn't tell a soul!"

"Well, someone did! And I'm gonna find out!" Reece yells, breathing heavily.

"All of you, please calm down!" Isabella says. "I found out myself. I can turn invisible. I was walking around the halls and decided it would be fun if I walked to lunch invisible, so I did, and I overheard you guys talking in the lunchroom. I decided that it would be pretty cool if we were superheroes, so I told Flora and Fauna and they agreed. I followed you, Aurora, got your phone number when you were telling Tempest so she could call you whenever she wanted, and texted you that message. And now we're here." Isabella takes a deep breath.

"So, do you take our offer?" Flora adds. Her voice startles us, since it's so soft. She's almost whispering. She gives us a weak smile.

Reece, Tempest, and I have our mouths hanging open. That was an ingenious plan. They came over us by accident!

I shake myself out of my daze to answer them.

"Sure, as long as you don't tell anyone." I say, gesturing to Reece, who's face is still red from her outrage.

The three of them squeal. "Yes!" they call out.

"So, what are your powers?" Tempest asks them.

"Well, I can turn invisible and go through any object," Isabella says.

"I can control and produce any type of plant," says Flora. Not surprised at all, according to her name. "Also, I can sense where and what characteristics a plant has."

Reece and Tempest stare blankly at her when Flora says the last sentence.

I sigh. "Basically, she can sense where any particular plant is, and she can sense things about it such as if it's poisonous or not." I say.

Flora looks at me gratefully, since I just took the task of explaining what she just said away from her.

"Oh," Tempest says.

"Cool!" Reece adds.

"And I," Fauna pipes in, "Have animal powers. I can control, talk to, summon, and turn into any animal. While I'm transformed, I adapt to the characteristics of that animal."

Reece and Tempest look at me expectantly this time.

I sigh again.

"While she's a different animal, she can have all the details of that animal, like, if she becomes a dog, then she'll have a good sense of smell while she's the dog."

Fauna nods approvingly. "Yep, that's pretty much it."

"All right! The only thing you guys need now are superhero names. Aurora's Extraordinary Girl, since her powers are awesome, she's super smart, and she has a really nice attitude. I'm Wildfire, since I can be wild and I got my powers from one, and Tempest's Storm, since she can control, summon, and produce any type of weather." Reece says. "How about you're named-" Reece starts, but Isabella cuts her off.

"We already have our names," she interrupts. "I'm Invisibilia, Flora's Flora, and Fauna's Fauna, since we decided it would make sense if they kept their regular names."

"And, you're wrong. There's one more thing. Our team name." Fauna says.

Oh. Right.
