Michael stared intently at a residual splatter of remnant innocently staining the wall. No normal person could see it, but a specific few, like himself, who had been injected with excess remnant could. Even some who made more than they needed on their own.

He glanced between the people around him, their remnant shining dully beneath their skin, changing colors and shades as their emotions shifted. His eyes caught on Gregory, wincing at the brightness of the boy's remnant.

Vanessa, beside him, almost blinded Mike. He blinked, willing his sensitivity to remnant down. Vanessa still shone brightly, but it wasn't nearly as bad. His eyes caught on a fading residual signature.

He tensed. That wasn't good. It definitely wasn't Vanessa's, too dull. Same for his, and Gregory's was more wild. The animatronics had zigzags instead of soft curving lines as well.

He slowly followed the trail, acting as casual as he possibly could. He almost cursed as he watched the trail fade out the front doors. He sighed and turned around. Hopefully the soul who contained that much remnant was unaware of it.

If they knew... it could end up very, very bad. It's how his father ended up power-hungry and dead. It's how their lives were ruined.

Oh, the joys of animatronics! What was that? Karens? Ah, shoot.Where stories live. Discover now
