Victim ~ Avenged Sevenfold"Peyton, for christ sake." Blake, my boss yelled at me. "They'll be here any minute."
"No Blake." I said calmly. "They'll be here in an hour, and besides, everything is ready."
He stalked around the studio, wiping at his face. "Do you know how important this is?" He asked, stopping and turning to me.
"Yes I know how important this is." I snapped, he was beginning to stress me out.
"This album Peyton, this is the album that we thought would never happen."
"I know Blake."
"We thought they were done, finished, but now, it has to be perfect."
"Christ Blake." I yelled. "I fucking know."
"Drinks, jesus Peyton did you get the drinks?" He stormed off towards the kitchen are. "Fuck."
I didn't follow him, he was beginning to piss me off and now he was making me nervous.
Today was a big day, for all of us, Avenged Sevenfold were coming into the studio to start recording their new album, and like Blake had said, it was the album that we thought would never happen. Just over a year ago, the lead singers wife had been killed in an accident, and apparently M Shadows had been devastated, the band hadn't performed since and everyone had just assumed they were over. I didn't know the guy from a bar of soap, but I imagined something like that would be horribly life changing.
"Food Peyton." Blake yelled, walking back in. "Did you order food?"
That was it, I'd had enough.
"Right, I'm going home." I said grabbing my bag.
"What?"
"I'm leaving."
"You can't leave, I need you here." He said, looking shocked.
"Well either you stop screaming at me or I'm leaving."
He looked sheepish. "You're right, I'm sorry. You know I appreciate everything you do."
I nodded, I guess he did. Blake was the owner of the studio and I'd worked for him for 5 years, I was his personal assistant and I loved this job, and I guessed I even loved Blake, in a brotherly kind of way.
"Have I ever let you down before?" I asked him.
He shook his head. "Peyton, god, I'm just stressed."
Stressed was understatement.
"Sit down." I ordered. "I'll get you a coffee."
"Good idea."
I headed into the kitchen area and made him a coffee, just the way he liked it.
"Here, now breath." I told him, handing him his coffee.
He took a mouthful then looked at me. "It's just really important Peyton." He said in a calmer voice.
"I know." I told him smiling. "And I promise to be on my best behavior."
I left him sitting there and went and checked that everything was ready and that it was all up to standard, I guess Blakes freaking out had freaked me out a little.
I'd never met any of the guy's from Avenged Sevenfold but I was sure they were nice people, weren't they?
Great, now I was freaking myself out, so I headed in and got myself a coffee this time.
"I'm sure everything will be fine." I told Blake, as I sat down next to him.
"Where are the other's?"
"They'll be here soon."
By other's he meant Elliot and Sam, the guys who actually ran the technical side of the recording studio.
"Oh god Peyton, don't mention the wife."
"Jesus Blake." I yelled, slamming my coffee down.
Today was going to be a very long day.
