What'd you expect from me?
It's not my fault you'll never be happy
Just cause you're right doesn't mean I'm wrong
Our days were numbered and we knew it all along
Can't you let things be?
Now all that's left is misunderstandings
Spent my nights wishing I was gone
My dad was right, we will never get along
Best Of Me ~ A Day To RememberMatt's POV
I opened my eye's, not sure of the time, but it was morning, the sun was up.
I rolled over to my left and looked at her sleeping. Peyton. She looked beautiful, even with her mouth open, snoring lightly.
I smiled, glad that I was waking up next to her, she was mine and just the thought of that made me so happy.
I reached out, touching her softly, the blankets were bunched just below her waist and I could see her bruises. I traced them lightly with my fingers. I know they'd start fading soon, but I just hated seeing them and she could say what she wanted but I knew she had to be in pain.
Her eye's fluttered open and she reached up, grabbing my hand.
"Are you trying to cop a feel while I'm sleeping?" She mumbled.
I laughed, leaning over and kissing her softly. "Maybe."
"You only have to ask." She murmured, smiling, reaching up and pulling my lips back to hers.
Now this was what I wanted, morning sex. I was kind of hoping to put on a bit better performance than I had last night. Last night had been fucking fantastic, but I was nervous and she'd made me so horny it was almost over in the first minute. I hadn't slept with anyone for so long, but now I had, I couldn't get enough of her.
This time it was slow and lazy, taking our time. I was still worried about hurting her, so I was gentle. I kissed her, watching her face as she came, fuck she looked so beautiful and it was enough to push me over the edge.
"You're hurting." I murmured to her afterwards, when we were just laying there, I'd seen her grimace when she moved.
"I'm okay." She whispered and I kissed her.
My phone started vibrating and fuck, it interrupted us.
"Get it." She murmured, sitting up.
I picked it up and watched Peyton walk into the bathroom.
"Hello."
"Good morning handsome." It was Tess.
"Hey."
"You should come for breakfast." She demanded.
Peyton walked back in with a glass of water and took two tablets.
"Where?" I asked.
"Brian's."
Breakfast at Brian's would consist of minimal food and loads of alcohol.
"Now?" I asked, pulling Peyton down next to me and kissing her nose.
"Of course, we might make a day of it." Tess told me.
"Okay, see you soon." I told her hanging up.
"Tess?" Peyton asked me.
I nodded. "They're having breakfast."
"And you're going?" I could hear the disappointment in her voice.
I pulled her to me, kissing her softly. "I need to talk to them Peyton, I need to tell them about Tiffany, I need to tell them about us."
"Okay." She whispered, but I could still hear the waiver in her voice.
I got up and showered and when I walked back into the bedroom Peyton was dozing, her pain tablets obviously kicking in.
I looked at her, honestly I didn't want to leave her but I needed to tell the other's what was going on, I wanted everyone to know about Peyton.
"Babe." I murmured, kneeling next to the bed and kissing her forehead. "I won't be long."
She nodded and I was horrified to see a tear slip down her cheek.
"Peyton, I'm not leaving you, I'll be back." It hurt me to see her like this, so insecure.
She closed her eye's, I knew she didn't believe me, so I kissed her again then headed off. The sooner I got there, the sooner I could get back to Peyton. I wanted to spend my time with her, every minute, showing her what she meant to me. I'd do anything for her and I was upset that she thought I might not come back.
I pulled up at Brian's and as expected there were a few cars out the front and as I made my way around the back I was greeted by a bunch of people in different states of drunkenness.
"Sweetheart." Tess called, coming over and embracing me. "Where the fuck have you been?"
"Can I have a word with you and Brian?" I asked. "Privately."
"Of course." She smiled. "Brian, come here." She said waving him over. "Matt wants to talk."
Brian nodded and we headed inside, away from everyone, most of whom I didn't know.
"What's up?" Brian asked me.
"Look I have a few things to say, just let me say them and don't interrupt." I asked them.
"Of course baby." Tess said, grabbing my hand.
I gently pulled my hand out of her grip. "It's about Tiffany, it's something I should have told everyone a long time ago but I didn't, I couldn't. " I took a deep breath. "We were seperated when she died, we had been for awhile."
"What?" Tess asked, looking shocked.
"Look we weren't together, she had her life, I had mine, we just lived in the same house, as friends."
Tess looked upset and Brian was nodding.
"You stopped loving my sister." Tess cried. "Why are you telling us this, why now?"
"Fuck Tess." I snapped. "Of course I loved your sister, she was my best fucking friend and I'm telling you this now because I've met someone else and I want you to accept her."
"Woah dude." Brian muttered.
"You've met someone else? Who?" Tess demanded. "Do we know her?"
"Yeah." I said nodding. "You do."
They both stared at me, looking shocked.
"Who?" Brian asked.
"Peyton."
"What?" Tess screeched. "Are you serious?"
"That's just fucking fantastic." Brian muttered, turning and walking out.
I watched him, I knew he was pissed because he had a thing for Peyton.
"How could you do this?" Tess cried. "To us? To me?"
I looked at her. Was she serious? I'd been living my life the way they'd expected me too for far too long.
I shook my head, turning and walking out. I wasn't going to argue with them, it was what it was, either they excepted Peyton or they could get out of my life.
I was glad to get back in my car, away from them and back to Peyton, I hadn't been gone long but I was already dying to see her.
I just had one more stop to make on the way.
