I found you here, now please just stay for a while
I can move on with you around
I hand you my mortal life, but will it be forever?
I'd do anything for a smile, holding you til our time is done
We both know the day will come, but I don't want to leave you
Seize The Day ~ Avenged SevenfoldMatt's POV
I sat there, looking at the phone. Peyton wanted to talk. I wanted to talk. The question was how much did I want to tell her?
I closed my eye's, leaning back. I liked Peyton, I pretty much had from the moment I met her, we just clicked. I was ready to move on, it was time for me to move on, it's just nobody else was ready for me to move on, unless I was moving on with Tess, then everyone was okay with that.
I groaned. Tess, she was a whole other problem. It was like she had a Peyton radar built in, she just knew whenever we were together and all I wanted was time with Peyton and I couldn't get it.
Well, I thought standing up, it's time to tell her everything.
I grabbed my keys and headed out to my car. I'd decided to stop and get breakfast on the way.
Just as I started the car my phone rang.
I groaned, I knew exactly who it was.
"Hey." I answered.
"Hi handsome, what are you doing?" Tess asked.
"I'm just on my way out." I told her.
"Oh well come pick me up, we can go for breakfast."
"I'm having breakfast with Peyton." I explained.
"Oh, oh well I guess she can come." She said.
I couldn't believe it, yes Tess had been my sister-in-law and she'd always been the same, self obsessed. She just didn't get that I wasn't interested in her, she didn't understand.
"Yeah we're just going to have breakfast alone."
"Why?" She asked bluntly.
"I want to spend time with her." Could I be anymore obvious?
"Oh Matt." She said softly. "It's not fair on Peyton, you doing this."
"What?" I was confused.
"Using her to make yourself feel better, using her to get over Tiffany." She said softly.
I didn't speak for a moment, I couldn't.
"Matt are you still there?"
"Yeah, I'm just stunned." I said.
"About?" She asked innocently.
"About what you just said Tess." I took a deep breath. "I'm not really sure where you got that idea from but it's wrong. I'm spending time with Peyton because I like spending time with Peyton. That is it, that is the only reason."
"If you say so." She sighed. She didn't believe, it was obvious in her voice.
"Well I do say so. Peyton is a great person, I like being around her."
"Okay Matthew and that's fine, just don't lead her on."
That was it, I'd had enough.
"I have to go. I'll see you later." And I hung up without waiting for a reply.
I was sick of it, everyone assuming I wasn't ready to move on, to date someone else, to love someone else, but what would they say if they knew the truth, would their opinion of what I was ready for change?
Nobody knew about Tiffany and I. Nobody knew that we weren't together anymore when she died, or that we hadn't been for six months. Sure we still lived in the same house, but we had separate bedrooms, we were over. She was driving to Las Vegas for the show because it was the last of the tour and we'd decided that it was time everyone knew about us. We'd decided it was time for eachother to get on with their own lives, find someone else.
And here I was. Tiffany was gone and she was my best friend and I missed her everyday, but I was ready to move on, I wanted to move, I'd met someone I wanted to move on with, and some days I felt cheated by Tiffany because I was here, stuck and I couldn't move on, I couldn't because nobody would let me.
