Just great, Rosie had disappeared and left me here with Brian and Tess. I didn't like her, even her voice annoyed the fuck out of me.
"Ooh you know what we should do?" She said.
I bit my tongue, she probably didn't want to hear what I thought she should do.
"What should we do?" Brian asked her, smiling at me.
"Go out to dinner tonight." She suggested.
"We should." Brian agreed.
"A double date." She said smiling. "You with Piper."
"Peyton." I snapped.
"Sorry, you with Peyton, me with Matt."
Oh god no.
"That's a great idea." Brian said.
No it wasn't, it was a terrible idea.
"Let me ask Matt." She said walking off.
"It sounds fun." Brian said, smiling at me.
"Loads." I mumbled.
It didn't sound fun at all. I didn't want to go, on a double date, with her and Matt.
"Woohoo, where are you Matt?" I heard that stupid cow call out.
I tried to block her voice from my head.
"Let me get you another drink." Brian offered, standing up.
I nodded and watched him walk away. He was an incredibly handsome guy, just not someone I would ever be interested in.
Oh goody, I thought as Tess came back over.
"I can't find him." She told me.
"I'm sure he's not far, it's his house." I told her dryly.
"True." She smiled. "Isn't Matt fabulous." She went on. "I just adore him and I think he's interested in me, I mean look at me, twin sisters, why wouldn't he be interested."
I nodded, she had a point.
"We'll end up together." She said. "Oh, hey, MATT." She called out as he came out the back door.
Brian followed him over and handed me a drink.
"Matt." Tess gushed. "We're going out tonight, on a double date."
"What?" He asked, looking at the three of us.
"A double date, you and me, Brian and Piper."
"Peyton."
She giggled and I wanted to gouge her eyes out.
"Oh." Matt said.
"It'll be fun." She said.
He nodded, taking a drink. "I'm sure."
Oh thank god, there was Rosie.
"Where the hell did you go?" I hissed as I approached her.
"Sorry Peyton, I was talking to someone."
"Yeah well I just got suckered in to going on a double date."
"Ooh, with who?" She asked smirking.
I looked at her, not sure what she was smirking at. "Brian, Tess and Matt."
"Nice."
"No Rosie, not nice." I snapped. "I have no interest in Brian."
"Brian?"
"Yes, who do you think my date is?" I asked.
She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
"It's great that Matt and Tess are getting together." I told her. "But I wished they wouldn't drag me along."
"Peyton I don't think....."
"Piper come here." Tess interrupted.
Fucking Piper.
I looked at Rosie and gritted my teeth.
"It's Peyton." I heard Matt tell her quietly.
I turned around and plastered a fake smile on. "What?"
"We need to organise tonight."
I walked over, slowly. Tess went on about where we would go, what time they'd pick me up and I just nodded, I didn't want to go, not with him going, well not with him going as someone else's date anyway.
That was it, after this dumb date I was distancing myself from him, no more answering his calls or anything. He obviously belonged with his wife's sister, they looked good together.
"Are you ready to go?" Rosie asked, walking over.
I was ready three weeks ago.
"Yep."
"See you tonight." Tess gushed.
I nodded, I wasn't going to look at Matt, but fuck me, I did anyway.
"Um, thanks for coming." He mumbled. "Let me walk you to the car."
"No it's fine." I said, trying to sound calm, but failing. "I'll walk with Rosie."
"Oh." He said, looking down. "Okay."
"Tonight." Brian grinned.
Yeah, I thought turning away, tonight.
I could hardly fucking wait.
