Peyton's POV

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" I asked Matt as he got out of the shower.

He looked at me, grabbing a towel. "Peyton, it'll be fine."

Yeah I wasn't sure about that, I didn't think a party at Brian's house sounded so great but Matt was adamant that we went.

"He rang and invited us." He told me.

That was true, after nearly two weeks of not speaking to Matt or I, he had rung and invited us to this party.

"Besides, Rosie's going."

I nodded, looking at myself in the mirror. Rosie was going and that was a plus, at least I'd have someone to talk too, but I still wasn't sure if this was the greatest idea.

I applied a bit of make up while Matt got dressed. It wasn't the best but I had almost mastered the art of applying make up with this stupid cast. Matt had a supply of clothing at my house now, everyday he added to the collection. He stayed here virtually every night, I'd never stayed at his house, I just couldn't bring myself to stay there, not the house he'd lived in with her.

"Ready?" he asked me, I nodded and he kissed me softly. "You look beautiful." He murmured.

I looked okay, I mean at least the bruising was nearly gone from my face and body. "Thank you." I told him, wrapping my arms around his neck and returning his kiss.

"Hey." He murmured. "Are you trying to get out of this party?"

I didn't answer, I just kissed him again, running my hands up the back of his shirt.

"Come on babe." He whispered, pulling away gently. "We can stay for a little while then come home and finish this."

"Promise?"

"I promise."

We headed to the car and I held Matt's hand as he drove. What could I say, I just loved to touch him, I always needed to touch him, and truth be told, I was pretty sure I was in love with him. I wasn't ready to tell him yet, I mean I knew he liked me, I knew he wanted me as his girlfriend, but love, well that was a big step and I just wasn't sure if Matt was ready for that yet.

We arrived at Brian's and I took a deep breath before we went inside. I was nervous. These were Matt's friends and they'd made it perfectly clear that they didn't approve of this relationship.

"Relax." Matt said, kissing the side of my head and putting his arm's around my shoulders.

We walked around the back. There were a load of people here already but I was disappointed that Rosie and Blake weren't here yet.

"Matthew."

I groaned as Tess walked over, smothering Matt in hugs and kisses, over doing it a bit. I kind of wanted to slap her.

"Peyton." She mumbled to me.

I just ignored her. If she was going to be rude, so was I.

"Come and get a drink." She said grabbing Matt's hand and dragging him.

"I'll get you a soda." He said to me, raising his eyebrows and looking helpless.

I watched as she dragged him off. I wasn't surprised really, I mean she was going to do everything she could to get him, even if he was with me. I just had to trust him and believe him when he tells me it's me he wants.

"Hi." Brian said walking over to me. "Do you need a drink?"

"No thanks, Matt is getting me one."

"Okay." He said smiling. "So, how do you feel, you know, after the accident?"

"Much better now. My wrist still hurts a bit, but nowhere near as much as it did." I told him.

He smiled and nodded and I stood there. It was a little bit awkward, I mean Brian had wanted to date me before I started going out with Matt.

"Look Peyton." He said. "Do you mind if we talk, me and you, inside, away from the noise?"

I nodded. I guess we could talk. It would be good if Brian and I could get back to being friends, it would be easier on Matt and I was willing to do anything for Matt.

I followed him inside, glancing around looking for Matt so I could let him know where I was going, but I didn't see him. Hopefully he wouldn't worry about where I'd gone.

He led me inside and into his study, once we entered the door closed and I turned around to see Tess standing there.

"Look Peyton." She said. "There's a few things you need to know."

"Alright." I snapped, holding up my hand. "Stop. I know you don't approve of Matt and me, so please just stop."

"This has nothing to do with you being with Matt." She said. "Brian and I just think you should know the truth. Isn't that right Brian?"

I looked at Brian and he nodded. "Yeah."

"The truth?" I asked.

"Yes." She said. "We know Matt told you about him and Tiffany but Peyton it's a lie, they were together, he's lying to you."

I looked between Brian and her. Why would Matt lie to me? "Why would he lie?"

"I don't know, maybe he's trying to justify getting into a relationship so soon after her death, I don't know, but he's lying Peyton, him and Tiffany were very much still having a relationship when she died."

I suddenly felt sick. They were lying weren't they? Trying to get in between Matt and me. "How could you possibly know that." I snapped.

Tess glanced at Brian and he nodded, encouraging her.

"Look Peyton, I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell you this but Tiffany." She paused for a moment. "Well, Tiffany was pregnant when she died Peyton, she was pregnant with Matt's child."

I shook my head. They were lying. They had to be! "Just stop it." I snapped. "Stop lying."

"Ask him yourself Peyton, go, go ask him if she was pregnant." Brian told me.

I felt tears fill my eye's. Matt was lying to me? He told me they were finished but she'd been pregnant? None of this made sense.

I shook my head, walking to the door. I needed to get out of this room. I needed to get out, get some fresh air.

I stumbled blindly towards the front door, tears blurring my vision, I opened it, escaping outside. I took a deep breath and a sob escaped me, I glanced around, I was alone, nobody was near so I sank to my knee's, crying.

Why would he do that? Why would he tell me lies? What had he been hoping to achieve and did he really think I wouldn't find out?

I stood up, walking down the street. I wanted to go home. I needed to go home.

I never wanted to see Matt again. The lying piece of shit that he was.
