"Wade Bourne." Wade walked up to Juniper on the train, lending a hand out for her to shake, which she took.
"Juniper Plinth." She smiled softly before letting go of his hand and looking out the window. Wade took a seat across from her. She realized earlier there was no point in using her other surname anymore. She wanted to embrace who she was, the Capitol already knew.
"So, did you go to the academy?" Wade asked. Juniper was reminded about District Four's academy. Although she went to school and did receive some fighting lessons, she never was trained for it specifically.
"Yeah." Lie. "Did you?" She looked at the eighteen-year-old guy sitting across from her. He just nodded in response.
"What weapons do you use?"
"A lot of them, I have a lot of options to pick from," Juniper said, stuttering a bit. "I like closer-range weapons more."
Reminded of when she was younger, she remembered when her father used to take her out by the beach to catch some fish using small knives and spears. She couldn't handle a spear well at all, but was much more agile and quick with smaller weapons.
"I used swords, pretty basic but they're strong," Wade said.
A door opened to reveal an old lady and a tall bronze-haired man. They both wore semi-formal clothes.
The lady waved while the man just smiled looking at the two.
"Wade Bourne." Wade stood up and walked to our two mentors, shaking their hands. The mentors then looked at Juniper, who just gave them a small wave.
"Not much of a talker with me, Juniper?" Finnick said.
"You two know each other?" Wade asked, looking between them.
"No, we don't," Juniper said. Wade furrowed his eyebrows and just shrugged.
This was Juniper's first time meeting Finnick formally face-to-face. Although the two have been in the same room or house before, they never formally met.
"Whatever you say," Finnick said. "Anyway, once we arrive at the Capitol, you'll be sent to your stylists. Once they fix you up, you'll be off to the parade." Finnick clapped his hands together, Wade smiled and Juniper nodded along.
