"Jesus christ!" Water was splashed onto Junipers face, forcing her awake. She looked around, she was on a beach. Laughter filled her ears.
"You shouldn't fall asleep on the beach." A female voice said. "You are going to burn!"
"You should be thanking us for waking you up." Another spoke.
What was this?
An arm went under Juniper's knees and another behind her back, picking her up and bringing her towards the ocean. She looked up at the man carrying her.
"No, no no!" Juniper screamed as she was thrown into the water. She shot straight up, when she opened her eyes, she expected them to be gone. They weren't.
"Come on, Juniper. Lighten up." Wade said, splashing her a few times with water. "We have company! No time for sleeping all day."
Juniper shielded her eyes from the incoming water, but looked at the beach. Sylvia and Sawyer were standing there. Sierra and Colby as well.
"What is this?" Juniper asked. "I'm done with these nightmares."
"Nightmare? Are we that bad?" Wade put a hand on his chest, taking offense to her comment.
"Come on, Juniper! Dunk him!" Sylvia yelled, laughing. Wade threw his arms up, turning to Sylvia. He rolled his eyes and turned back to Juniper, who had looked like she had just seen a ghost- multiple.
"What's wrong?" Wade asked, taking a step towards Juniper. She didn't say anything.
"You're dead." Juniper pointed at him, her voice barely above a whisper. Wade looked down at himself and patted himself down.
"I don't think so." He smiled.
"No, I saw you die. The games." She backed away from him, he kept his distance, but he narrowed his eyes.
"I think you were dreaming, Juniper." Wade voiced. "The games never happened."
What?
This definitely wasn't real. Juniper was sure. She had to be in some sort of dream or nightmare. She saw Sierra die in her arms, she saw Colby's body. She saw the recording of Wade, Sawyer, and Sylvia dying from poison. This was fake.
"Maybe you do need to lay down." Wade suggested, holding his hand out to her. Juniper reached out for his hand, half expecting it to go right through his, like he was a ghost. But it didn't. His hand pulled her out of the sea and back onto the beach.
