Chapter 9 - Sena

The first thing that crossed my mind when I woke up was fear. Fear of something that had happened to me that caused my eyes to changed color, fear of losing a potential friend, fear of the judgement that people will bestow upon me, fear of looking like a monster for the rest of my life.

I opened my eyes and a familiar ceiling greeted me. Ako lang mag isa sa infirmary kung saan din ako nagising nang unang mapadpad ako rito. I expected someone to be here beside me, waiting for me to wake up. Pero wala.

And I guess that's how I lose a friendship I was trying to build. Back home, wala ako masyadong kaibigan. I have few, but I cannot call them as my barkada dahil nakakasabay ko lang. And now that I can finally have people with me, they vanished.

Who said ugly people get picked?

Nag-init ang mga mata ko at di napigilang mapaluha. Suminghap ako and that earned the nurse's attention.

"You Majesty." She immediately checked me. I noticed how she avoided any eye contact.

Hindi ko nanaman mapigilang mapaluha. I didn't mean to be ugly, it just happened.

"I need to call the queen." She said. When she was about to leave, I grabbed her arm.

"Where's Lyko?" I asked.

"The prince is outside, princess. He's waiting for you to wake up."

My face lightened, "Really? Can you call him in, please? I need to see my husband." I pleaded.

She obliged.

When Lyko came in, we both stared at each other's eyes without moving. It flattered me on how he didn't avoid looking at my eyes though they look hideous for a normal person.

Then he slowly reached for me and embraced me. His body felt warm that brought ease in me. Nilanghap ko ang amoy niya.

"I thought you wouldn't want to see me." Malungkot kong saad at hinigpitan pa lalo ang yakap sa kanya.

"I waited for you outside." He stroked my hair, "I always wanted to see you."

"Where are the others?" I broke the hug and asked him.

"Franco left. He said he'll visit his mom. While the others are suspended."

Kumunot ang noo ko, "Suspended? Why?"

"Naabutan kami ng curfew. You know we went far last night and it was hard to reach the palace's infirmary. They were locked outside of the quarters when they went back."

"Bakit naman lahat sila nasuspend? Hinatid nyo akong lahat dito?"

Tumango sya at umupo sa dulo ng kama, "Yes. We were all in the trouble when we realized that."

"Wow." Halos di makapaniwala kong sabi, "Thank you."

And here I thought that they didn't want to be friends with me anymore! Sobrang drama ko pa kanina at umiyak iyak pa ako, magkaibigan naman parin pala kami. It's a good thing!

"Except for one."

May hindi nasuspend?

"Who?"

"Sena."

"Oh."

I did not expect that from her.

"Samantha."

Sabay kaming lumingon sa pintuan at nakita ang Queen at King. They looked like a match made in heaven. Sobrang bagay nila and they move in complete unision. Like they were made solely for each other.
