I wanted to stay in bed for as long as I could. Heck, I could stay in bed for years and rot.

Only to see people; maids and carpenters moving back and forth in the hallway. Kumunot ang noo ko. What is happening?

Everyone's so busy that they didn't notice me.

I found Lucien in the balcony, overlooking the dead garden. I want to do something to liven up the old greenery, magtanim kaya ako roon? Since I'm bored from doing nothing here.

I was allowed to go out, hindi ako kinailangan bantayan ng mga gwardiya but I didn't risk it.

"What's happening?" Bungad ko sa kaniya. It confuses me that the castle is so busy which rarely happens.

I'd be lucky to spot a few maids walking. This place is so large that it takes half an hour to explore the whole of it ngunit kukonti lang ang umuokopa.

"Oh, dear." He greeted. I almost flinched with his endearment. "Your birthday's coming up so I figured we'd celebrate. You know, as a family." Nakangiti nitong saad.

"There's no need to throw a party." Now, I don't really feel like enjoying a party anymore. It reminds me of how my fake mother was murdered by a serpent infront of my eyes.

The day that changed my life forever. I was taken to the North - specifically in Agreassine, and that's when my misery started. Indeed, ignorance is a bliss. I was happier when I didn't know any of these.

"Sure there is, child." He emphasized the last word.

I stared at him. How could this man be my father? Never in my wildest imagination have I ever dreamed to become a serpent's daughter. I never considered it, even. Kaya paano? What did Hansel see in him?

He's good-looking, I admit, but there's got to be something in him that made my mother fall in love so hard that her whole diary basically revolved around him.

I believe that my mother is like me, someone who doesn't go just for looks. I'm sure he isn't as kind as an Agreassine man, but he isn't the roughest serpent either.

What's in him that can make me accept him as my father? He hasn't proven much to me yet aside from letting me have my own freedom which barely happened before.

Lumambot ang mga mata nito, "Besides, I'm inviting your husband over so you can see each other. Don't you want that?"

Kumunot ang noo ko, "Why would you do that? He's your enemy."

"But he's not yours."

"What?" I laughed ridiculously, not getting his logic.

"I told you, hindi ako kagaya ng dating namuno sa Agreassine. Hindi ko kayo paglalayuin ng asawa mo."

Umiling ako, "It doesn't make sense."

"What doesn't make sense? You're my daughter. I'm doing this for you." He nonchalantly said while shrugging his shoulder.

Natahimik ako.

"He's my enemy, not yours. You shouldn't suffer the same fate as me. Now, do you still want your birthday party to pursue?"
