Chapter 28 - Morpheus

"Oh my dearest! Are you alright?" The queen came rushing to me with worried face as I descend from the carriage covered in thick blankets and coats.

"Yes, I'm fine, Your Majesty." I said, shivering from the cold.

I was wet from being thrown into the water by Lyko earlier. I forgot that it's winter season in this place that's why I'm shivering so much from the cold. 

My husband found me exactly when Jersen disappeared right in front of me. He just vanished like a thin smoke of black and grey. Lyko didn't look like he encountered a demon, but I do. I look like a real mess of dirt, blood and snow all over me. 

"Send her to the infirmary. Now." Sabi niya sa likod ko saktong pagbaba niya. "Mother, we need to talk." And both of them left in a rush. Looks like they're going to discuss about what happened. 

Healers came to me with concern in their eyes. I was accompanied to the infirmary and they did their thing. Some began washing the dirt off me and cleaning the wounds on my feet. Mukha akong taong grasa dahil sa itsura ko. 

"I've been here so many time already." I joked.

None of them laugh with that. They just smiled timidly and buried themselves with their own business. Right, I can't joke like that to these people. Bumuntong hininga ako. 

Days without the training and I'm already missing it. And my friends. I hope I could go back tomorrow. 

The door suddenly bust open and revealed an angry Lyko with his disheveled hair. Sunod na pumasok ay ang reyna na kinakausap ang anak.

"I told you, mother! Someone is snitching on us!" 

"That is highly impossible, anak. I interviewed our staff myself! If someone is really snitching, I would have known by now." 

"And this? What do you call this? Samantha almost got killed by that demon!"

"Lyko..." Mahinang bulong ko, "I told you he was just playing."

"Playing?" He turned to me with fire in his eyes, "You call that playing? What he did to you..." He trailed as he looked at me. "We have to cut some people."

"That is outrageous, Lyko Geisalhart! Why would you forbid our people their job?"

"I told you already, some of them are spying on us and delivers the message to Jersen! Will you please listen to me? Just this once? Samantha's life was on the line." Unti unti itong kumalma, "I can't let anything happen to her."

I felt my insides warmed because of what he said.

Napahilot sa noo ang ina pero tumango rin, "Fine. I'll see what I can do."

"Thank you." He muttered.

She just nodded and went out of the room. Lyko heaved out a heavy sigh as if something huge was lifted off his shoulders.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

Lumingon siya, "I should be the one asking you. Did he hurt you?" Lumapit sya at umupo sa paanan ng kama.

I shook my head as I remembered the last few words of Jersen. He referred to himself as my prince charming which is obviously ridiculous. He must be sick in the head.

Hindi ko alam anong nangyari sa kanila ni Jersen nang tumakbo ako pero wala siyang ni isang sugat. He sure looks bothered and eager to get back at him.

"Did he do something to you...?"

He shook his head and his eyes shifted, "N-no..." Mukhang nalilito siya, "He didn't."
