Chris

"How many times are you going to stir that coffee?" Derrick asked.

"I must have zoned out."

"All day you have been, I ain't even get a smile outta you today."

"Sorry,"

"Is it anything I can help with?" He reached over me to grabbed something off the top shelf.

"If you felt like someone you were dating wasn't able to be around a particular person, without someone else there...what do you think about that?"

He leaned against the counter. "I wouldn't be with them,"

"That simple?"

"Yeah, if there's even a doubt they could step out, imma move on." He rung the bell and the giggly girls came up to get their order.

"Have a nice day and enjoy your lattes ladies."

"Thank you Derrick," they said in unison.

I rolled my eyes.

"What?"

"You better leave them girls alone,"

"Back to our convo, you having these issues with your boyfriend?"

"It's not like he's cheated but with this guy, it's like he can't get away from him. The guy even did some really mean things to him and still, he just let it go."

"Hmm, anything happened between them you don't know about?"

"No, I'm aware they had sex,"

He looked confused. "Then there shouldn't be anything between them whatsoever. I wouldn't trust that."

"It's his best friend, so I can't just tell him to drop him. We only been together a month now. Who am I to make demands so early on?"

"Yeah,"

"I did tell him he can't be around him alone,"

"Ahhh, see that ain't really a good thing." He palmed his chin.

"Why?"

"Cause you clearly just told him you can't trust him, and if he's never actually cheated, he probably doesn't like that"

"He might of said something like that, but he still agreed to my terms."

"I don't know Chris, he might have pretended it was fine but I can bet my bottom dollar, he wasn't feeling that."

Darn, now I was replaying the conversation over in my head. I wasn't in no way trying to act like his parent and banned him from doing something. I was just making sure he didn't put himself in a situation that would affect us negatively. I would be beyond devastated if he cheated, but maybe I took things too far, maybe I pushed him further into Kayon's arms. He was suppose to bring me to work tonight but at the last minute said something came up, was that true or he just didn't want to see me?

I was in such deep thought I accidentally knocked over a customer's cup and it went everywhere. "Maybe take a break, I'll clean this up."

I nodded at Derrick and headed to the back, quickly removing my apron.

We went to the car dealership so I could pick out my car, I did as Mr. Bailey asked and got all A's on my first report card. They had a used Toyota Highlander, blue. It was a 2020 with only 60,000 miles. I picked it right away and Mr. Bailey put down 6,000 dollars for it.
