Rylie's POV

I don't know what to feel the moment I received a message this morning. It's from my brother saying that Dad and Tita Lacey are going home for his birthday.

If I I'm being honest to myself, ayoko pa. I am not yet ready to face them, especially Tita Lacey.

And now, I can't help but overthink.

Will it go back to the way it was?

He didn't say anything and just motion me to look in front.

"Are you with us right now, Miss Monteverde?" Professor Castillo asked in a stern yet gentle voice.

I swallowed hard as I scratch my nape in embarrassment. "Y-Yes, Ma'am." Kahit ang totoo ay wala talaga kong ideya kung anong topic namin ngayon.

"Alright." She smiled before leaning towards the table. "What are the restrictions apply when utilizing financial ratios in managerial accounting to assess performance?"

Oh, fuck. Yun ba yung lesson? Gosh, I'm really not listening!

"F-Financial ratios have limits but are uselful for assessing performance. They rely on historical data, oversimplify difficult issues, and lack qualitative context, which causes delay. They could not be comparable across countries and are prone to manipulation." I pause as I cleared my throat before I continue. "T-Their dependability is also impacted by short-term orientation and outside variable like inflation."

I just blurted out what I think is a possible answer. Damn, mukhang mapapahiya ulit ako dito.

I was shocked when she suddenly clap her hands.

Wait, does it mean--

"That's correct! Very good. You may take a sit now, darling."

"Good one, babes." Mason complimented before giving me a fist bump.

"Well, that's all for now, everyone. I hope you learned something from me, despite being your substitute for two weeks. I'm grateful that I could teach you again for the second and last time."

Everyone, except me, protest with what Professor Castillo said.

"We will miss you, Ma'am!"

"Ma'am crush kita! Wag mo kong iwan!"

"Ma'am palit na lang kayo ni Prof. Carlton!"

I immediately send a glare to one of my classmates who shouted that. Like, anong karapatan nya para mag request ng ganun?

Eh, kung sya kaya ang palitan at ibalik sa first year? Tsk!

"Hey, quiet class." Lahat naman ay automatic na nanahimik. "Don't say anything like that, okay? Imagine how she would feel if she heard you guys. And besides, Professor Carlton is more accomplished than I am. I know that she can teach you better than I did." She uttered in a serious manner. But all can see how happy she is to teach us again. "Enough with the chitchats. I know all of you are anticipating to have your lunch already. So for now, class dismissed."

Everyone rejoice with her announcement as they bid their goodbyes to her as well.

As I'm about to finish, I heard her called my name.
