Rylie's POV
"Good morning, hija. Did you sleep well?" It was Aunt Victoria who greeted me the moment I went downstairs.
She insisted that I should call her Aunt Victoria instead of Mrs. Carlton. Marami daw kasing pwedeng mapagkamalan na Mrs. Carlton sa pamilya nila.
Nakakahiya nga dahil pinagpipilitan nya din na tawagin ko syang Mommy.
"Good morning po. And yes po. Maayos po yung tulog ko."
She smiled gently. "I'm glad you did. Do you know how to bake?"
"I know a bit po."
"Good. You help me. Here." She handed me a whisk na agad ko namang kinuha.
"What are we baking, Auntie?"
"It's Astrid's favorite." By the look she's giving me, it seems like she's testing if I know it.
"Blueberry cheesecake, then?"
Her smile grew wide. "Wow, very good! You really know my daughter."
Napangiti na lang din ako. Of course I know. Niligawan ko po kaya ang anak nyo.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure po. You can ask me anything."
"I'm curious. How did you meet Astrid, hija? As far as I've known she only have limited friends. And the only people she considered as one are Anastasia and Catherine."
Natigilan ako sa tanong nya. Should I tell her the truth?
"To be honest po, I am really your daughter's student. The first time we met was actually unexpected, cause she got mad immediately when she caught me and my friend loitering across the classroom door." I can't help but smile when I remembered that specific moment.
Our first encounter.
I didn't expect that she was our Professor at akala ko ay bago namin syang kaklase.
Matagal na rin pala yun. And yet, the feeling like it's always the first time. How I get mesmerized by her presence alone. How she made my heart skip a beat just by simply looking at her hazel orbs.
Ganun pa rin ang nararamdaman ko hanggang ngayon.
"That's the first time you met?" I don't know if there's something wrong with what I said, cause her smile faded.
"May problema po ba?" She looks uneasy now.
"That's not how I remembered, cause she told me about it. And as far I can recall, that's now how your first encounter with her goes."
My brows furrowed. Hindi yun ang una naming pagkikita?
"She knew who I am?" Teka, hindi ko yata maintindihan.
It seemed like she snap out from deep thoughts, dahil muli na ako nitong tiningnan. A forced smile formed her lips. "Oh, I was spouting nonsense, didn't I? I'm sorry. Don't mind what I said, hija."
Parang wala lang nangyari dahil nagpatuloy lang sya sa ginagawa. It feels like she's dodging our conversation earlier, cause she opens up another topic.
Hindi ko tuloy maiwasang mapaisip din. I know for sure that it was my first time meeting her, dahil hindi ko naman talaga sya kilala. She's not even familiar to me.
Just then, a bunch of people came inside. Rinig na rinig ang ingay nila, particularly Chanty's voice.
"I was unstoppable."
"You can't be that proud."
"Why not?"
"Cause I beat your ass, duh."
