✨Chapter 37 - a line in any final song

Tree P.O.V:

I pull on my boots and wait at the door. Checking my watch occasionally, "C'mon CJ! Black Hole! We're going to be late!"

"I can't find my art bag!" Cherry Jr. yells from his room. I sigh, "Did you check under your bed?"

Silence, I stand there awkwardly. Waiting for a response.

"...thanks Tree..." I hear them say, stepping out of their room. I smile, "You usually put it there."

"I do?" They ask, I chuckle, patting their head. "From what I remember," I explain, "Huh."

We chat for a bit, waiting for Black Hole. Where is he? He should be down here soon...Is he okay? Does he need help? Is he hurt? Are they-

"I'm ready! We can go now!" They yell, coming down the stairs. I smile, they're finally wearing the new hoodie I got them. "You look nice, love." I say, kissing their cheek as they approach us. Laughing, they rub the back of their head, "Thanks..."

"Of course, now get in the car." I say, ushering them outside. They follow, getting into the car. 

"Now Jr., you be good at Basketballs house, alright?" I say, driving down our street. They nod, "I'll be good, don't worry about it!"

Black Hole nods in agreement, preferring to stay silent. "Be nice to everyone, say thank you when they give you things. M'kay?" I ask, they give a small smile.

"Got it dad," they say as we pull up onto their street. I park the car on the curb, opening the door after stopping it. Jr. hops out, carefully but quickly making his way to Basketballs house.

"Go ahead and knock!" I yell, helping Black Hole out. They smile, grabbing my hand. "Hi Basketball!!" Jr. yells as she opens the door. She gives a small smile, "Hey Jr. come in! Grassy's in his room."

"Thank you, BYE DADS!!" He yells, waving at us wildly. I laugh, waving back with Black Hole. They smile, running inside quickly after. "Thanks Basketball!" I yell, waving at her as well.

"Of course! See you two soon!" She smiles, shutting the door behind her. I smile, getting back into the car.

I start up again, heading to Pie's house. Black Hole fidgets, looking out the window at the unfamiliar land before him. "You okay?" I ask, looking over at them.

"Oh! Yeah-" They smile, "J-just nervous...I guess..."

"How come?" I ask, stopping at a stop light. "I-...dunno...I guess I'm just afraid of...meeting new people..." They say, smiling awkwardly.

"I see...well...I'll be there for you, and if you need to step outside for a bit I could come with you?" I suggest, they contemplate for a second. Eventually nodding to my idea.

"Sounds good, tell me if you need to take a break okay?" I say, watching the light turn green. They nod, we continue our drive. Eventually driving up to Pie's house.

"We're here," I say, opening my door to get out. They follow, hopping out of the car as well. Quickly walking up to me and grabbing my hand, I smile, squeezing back.
