You're supposed to protect us
No hate, red and blue lights changed to red "paint" streaked across blue nights
You're supposed to be our sentinels, a sight for sore eyes but now you just burn my retinals
Every time I turn on the news the media are still trying to bruise the stereotype
And us fools are still buying the hype
But that's okay with me, as long as what they say doesn't affect the things that I believe
It's just the same old game just different levels and layers, different aims and names but the same players
Cliche groups and troops being deployed spraying bullets "these aren't toys" then why play with a life unless it's your own
You can take it if you want to, but before you do think about what you're putting your loved ones through, would you let someone else do that same sh*t to you?
And you might argue "there ain't no one left" you have a whole lifetime to find someone so please try not to stress, infinity does not exist in this moment unless you own it
A paradox I know but that's how you keep the structure flow
There's always someone there to help come on, helplines via landlines, blahtherapy.com ? And if you let the blood flow thinking that it helps to stem the pain, that shi*t is mental, if it helped why do you still feel the need, you feel? It's detrimental...
I know the truth hurts just as much as the lies and it's hard to see the way out with tears in your eyes but my friend you have to be brave, you have to believe everything'll be okay, that's the only way you can ever hope to be safe or to be saved
And if anything I'm here, I'm not perfect but I'll try my best, guaranteed you'll receive nothing less, all I want is to make people smile 'cause I've seen the other side I've already walked the mile I've been empty down inside I've been diagnosed and filed
And it's not because of the length of your arms but the extent of your will that prevents you from reaching out but you have to try you HAVE TO TRY do anything, a sign, a shout
Don't remain invisible in this swarming dance don't let your pulse become an intermittent circumstance
"Feeling nothing is better than feeling pain"
But if we didn't feel pain would we take a tear for granted?
If your conviction was a flower would it's seed even be planted? If your conviction was air after a run would you still be panting?
I sit in a corner for three days straight, and notice that sometimes the curtains grow dark even though the sun's still out
I know for most this doesn't mean much 'cause reading between lines isn't mainstream
But it means that life carries on no matter what, despite the doubt
It means when you close your eyes you don't always have to have a dream
I'm typing from my heart right now so I'd appreciate if people understood, but not all hearts are the same I realised as I stood and raised my hood
It could be different, it could be something to be celebrated, it could be something that just was, not under or over-rated
Maybe next time I step outside I'll see flowers at the side of the road, this time because a guy just popped the question
Maybe this time I'll make it all the way, this time because I got some rest and because a bird wasn't afraid to build a nest
I never thought I'd use this many metaphors, but my thoughts have been loose lately, if I don't watch out they'll become a noose and take me
Far away from here on a pair of wings
The first a slip the second a knock
"knock knock"
This ain't a joke people need to open their eyes, look through the peephole and recognise the guys standing outside red paper in hand
You already understand the demands from "The Mans" you leave with everything you own half your thoughts still trailing while it's raining all alone
All of a sudden the rain stops
You don't go to stutter "oh um.."
"brella" and then it hits you no they're not all the same
And then it hits you it's all in your brain
And if you realise you can change, a better future's in your range and you train so when it's your time to rein you're ready to make it never rain on anyone again
The power's in your hands and the knowledge in your minds so here, take these roses and go out and save some lives..
