Alex and his father savored their morning espresso together while getting ready for the day.

"Where did Mom go?" Alex asked.

"She's talking with Luis," Stephen said, gesturing toward the other room. "By the way, don't you have class this morning?"

Alex nodded. "Yeah, but we're going to orientation first."

His father relaxed and checked the school calendar as Diana and Luis entered the kitchen.

"Hello, handsome. Ready for another year?" his mother asked.

Alex smirked. "I guess so."

Stephen glanced at his watch and noted the time. It was approaching 6:30, so everyone hurried to prepare and stay on schedule.

"I hope you had a nice visit," Alex said, patting Luis on the shoulder.

"It was quite the lecture," Luis joked, glancing at Stephen.

Across the city, countless students packed the central auditorium, and Lyndsey was directing the undergraduates as usual. She enjoyed helping others and had an commanding presence, so she moved among the professors, assisting where needed.

Meanwhile, orientation was starting, so everyone felt the need to hurry. As students arrived, they were welcomed by a warm atmosphere. Many had stayed in touch after high school, so the reunions felt natural, but Luis could always count on Alex's sense of humor.

"Lots of beautiful girls this year," Alex observed.

Luis rolled his eyes. "Stay focused. I'm not here to tutor anyone."

Luis had been quiet throughout the morning, but one girl suddenly caught his attention. With the darkest black hair and a captivating smile, Sabrina was something special. Nevertheless, Alex immediately noticed his friend's sudden interest and grew curious.

"What are you staring at?"

"Two aisles up, second from the right," Luis said, pointing discreetly.

"The brunette?"

"Yes."

Luis seemed enchanted by Sabrina's gentle manner and graceful appearance from the start, but he lacked a way to meet her--until he noticed the woman seated beside her. The two appeared to be close friends and were chatting animatedly, so Alex took the initiative.

"I'll be right back," he announced, standing up.

Luis tensed. "Where are you going?"

"Trust me," Alex said, making his way toward the narrow aisle.

Navigating the crowds was challenging, but Alex was determined as he approached and struck up a conversation. New students weren't always eager to chat, but after a brief exchange, he returned with a smile.

"What was that about?" Sabrina whispered to her friend.

Tatum chuckled and gathered her papers. "They see a pretty girl and find an excuse to say hello."

Sabrina slowly turned and watched Alex return to his seat. "Maybe I should get used to it?"

Tatum laughed and settled back in her chair. "I think so."
