                                                                          Saint Anthony's Cathdral

Tapers flickered in subtle breezes as winter approached. However, that which was inevitable was the last of sovereign Harold Morgan's concerns. Katherine, beloved wife and mother, had left the sect, still fearful of the future.

The prophecy of fate resembled the human Bible. Detailing past fables, modern life, and the fate of supernatural species. A rulebook in many regards, despite its varying narratives. Though one detail stood relevant: humankind seemed oblivious to its existence.

Practitioners had lived within civilization for centuries without detection. Socializing and mingling within society as though they belonged. As this happened, humanity appeared unaware of the differences. Though, as these abnormalities in physical and mental dexterity peaked, they noticed.

As a result, measures to contain humanity's suspicions began. But as useful as a resolution could be, skepticism continued. On another note, it wasn't the practitioner's intention to command, but to assist people's development. However, despite the best intentions, society remained resistant.

In particular, where the balance of power existed. Alas, humanity retained a primitive outlook while trying to understand the unknown. Though if that failed, they planned to destroy it. This being the case, it proved beneficial for practitioners to stay secluded.

Meanwhile, Harold worked to maintain a sense of balance. But as fears of the doomsday prophecy spread, it became impossible. Plus, with Katherine's absence, Saint Anthony's council stood weakened.

No longer was Harold revered as a beacon of strength, but as a dictator. Drafting new doctrines and demanding unprecedented obedience. Contingencies Katherine wasn't willing to accept. So, unbeknownst to Harold, she secluded their children, hopeful to elude their father's demands.

As a result, Harold became distant, but maintained productive relationships. Though the lives and well-being of his family remained his top priority. So much so, when Katherine departed, he felt saddened. She was everything to him, but Harold considered her choice treason. Thus, it'd become necessary to send a message.

Harold arranged a gathering where the coven and congregation would stand together in unity. Sparing no expense to provide his loyalists with the finest pleasures. However, Harold still hadn't arrived. Now, there was no immediate need for concern, because Harold liked to make an entrance.

Despite everything, Harold and Katherine conveyed their feelings through intimate discussions. However, Harold's explanations sounded shadowed by obvious intentions. Characteristics he'd only developed within the past few months. All the same, he and Katherine were growing apart. But when communication or resolution should've taken priority, they didn't. Another source of rising conflict between them.

Dinner, drinks, and a beautiful moonlit night. The perfect setting to center and reevaluate thoughts. Harold felt comfortable among his peers and wasn't the type to care only about himself. For the coven was an extended family, and their preservation was important. On that note, such gatherings became commonplace. But as the atmosphere settled, something felt different.

Harold remained secluded, peering into his inherited gemstone. Alas, the once loving eyes of a devoted family man were no more. Consumed by an unexplainable darkness intent on abolishing any resistance.

Sadly, despite an extended history and two beautiful daughters, Katherine was a liability. Considering this, Harold decided a new beginning was necessary. Though for such transitions to occur, specific measures felt warranted.
