Paul couldn't fathom Harold Morgan's prophesied return, thus he hoped to acclimate his power amid the family's prolonged absence. Not only that, he and Leon aimed to convert Jessica's daughter since Karen's disdain for Sabrina would prove beneficial.

Then again, if the sovereign had returned he'd once again govern Saint Anthony's, leaving the futures of Paul's practice and apologists undecided. However, with the coven war looming they thought to have found an amicable solution.

Paul didn't like soliciting Leon's help to begin with, but with such a risky ritual it'd become essential. Secondly, he'd misled the congregation without fail and sought to amend the covenant.

Meanwhile, Paul had utilized his remaining authority to secure aid from several esteemed associates confident he'd eventually regain control. With this in mind, tapers blazed as Harold's ledgers lay prominent on the pulpit. Paul could implicitly evoke the spells, but he hadn't yet mastered Harold's curative methods.

Even still, the strategies for preventing the coven's upheaval were progressing and since the sisters were adolescents Paul retained an advantage. (A certainty he counted upon while devising schemes).

Opening the first journal Paul and Leon assessed Harold's works and found that the merger durations and other essential mandates were missing. Ergo, enacting the magic would be challenging, thus leaving the probability of success uncertain. All this notwithstanding, they weren't detoured even amid the potential of failure.

Raina had incessantly mocked Paul's authority, so he planned to end the coven's insurrection. Yet another reason he studied Karen's abilities in preparation for the merger.

Even still, guidelines existed for invocations, but Paul was always confident of their success. Whatever the cost, a darkness that neither had imagined surged from the pale facet of this naive girl.

"She's more elegant than I imagined." Paul declared while looking upon Karen's sedated physique.

Karen's resilience had grown during the time between with an unusual vitality, so the task of merging their respective consciousness was viable. But considering everything, Luen had stayed isolated while he pondered the consequences.

"What about Alex?"

"He'll revert to society with no memory of what's happened." Paul answered.

Leon moved into the light.

"Luis will also try to intervene."

Paul scowled.

"Of that, I'm certain..." he retorted. "However, when he does she'll oppose."

Merging Karen's psyche with Nemesis was a gamble because their individual experiences were conflicted. Nevertheless, with the fates of their kinsmen in peril and with the Morgans' inevitable resurgence they had to act.
